We stumbled on this print store by accident. I don't really like the sort of conventional topographical prints that are produced on an industrial scale and that can be found in many tourist gift stores throughout Italy. L'Istrice was different. The charming owner is a professional printmaker and everything was designed and printed in store. Although most of the etchings and screen prints are views of Volterra and the Tuscan countryside, these images were tasteful and unusual. The shop also sells post cards and other paper goods. We returned to L'Istrice after four years. I explained to the owner that with our previous purchase of her work, we had introduced several new Chicago families to her beautiful etchings. Her work is extraordinary and she is a delightful and talented artist. We will return again on our next visit. We have new etchings to remember this visit.…

We stumbled upon this shop as we walked up the street from the Etruscan Arch. What a gem. Spend about an hour and a half there because the owner/artist took the time to show us how she created an etching. We chose two framed prints and she threw in a bookmark. These items are truly a way we can remember back to our day in Volterra--unique and intricate renderings of the countryside. I highly recommend that you seek out this shop when visiting.…
