I knew I would love this, even before getting there. I was right, it was worth the time - for me anyway. I had to pull my husband in, he was just a little reluctant to enter this small, white dust covered shop/factory. The intricate...More

Visited this alabaster workshop on a Riviera holiday. Interesting to see the alabaster being worked into goods and to learn a little of its history. When tour completed you are able to browse the goods produced in their shop. Purchased a clock, photo frame, candle...More

The shop is tucked away.....this is not something you will just run into on the Main Street. Tucked away in a corner. I was glad our guide knew enough to take us here. Mr. Rossi's greetings were warm and inviting from the beginning. He was...More

We always try to return home with some souvenirs of our stay and, given that Italy is known for its marble and alabaster, it seemed appropriate to take home a small item or two from this place. We didn't actually get to see the items...More

Great place to understand the traditional alabaster working industry. Entertaining and educational. Our kids loved it.

We were interested by the exhibits and the demonstration of how alabaster is lathed to make vases. Felt that the shop prices were a bit high and the group leader was pressured to force everyone to participate in the tour.

This appears to be another "standard stop" for the cruise line tours. The owner is a very entertain man with a fun story--is it real, who knows? It does not matter! He has a number of nice pieces for sale at very high prices and...More

We never felt more welcomed by a business in Tuscany. Wonderful proprietor. Interesting shop. Our kids loved it. Great stop as part of a tour of Volterra. Very close to the path along the top of the Roman theater.

I visited this company with my tour group. The owner, Mr. Rossi, showed us the workshop. We observed a little chalice being made before heading up to the store. They have quite a collection of treasures! Worth a visit, fun to look around!

Volterra is known for its impressive alabaster in the area. This exhibition shows all the various things that may be made from it. If you are lucky a local craftsman will be working on a piece and you may get an explanation of it all....More

The artisan was very gracious and allowed us to watch while he carved out a vase. It was simple lathe work- it would have been nice to watch a sculpture. Lots of little souvenir opportunities.

We didn't plan to visit but saw a group enter so we decided to join. The worker was very informative about alabaster - its history - and how it was processed to make items. We bought a few items from the shop. Well worth the...More
