We very much enjoyed our time at the Thai Elephant Home! We had not thought ahead to book our tour and they were able to fit us in the next day. The rest of the group that was supposed to ride with us cancelled so it was just my husband, myself, the mahouts, and the owner! What a beautiful experience!... More

Thai elephant home is simply beautiful. The owner Pi Joe was the gentlest man and treated us so kind. The Mahouts (elephant trainers) love their elephants and there is no abuse. An amazing experience and incredibly amazing for the price. Highly recommended. Very impressed.

Strongly recommend this place, each of us rode an elephant by ourselves on their necks without those nasty strapped carriages. I went for the 2hr trip but wished I could have done a full day. They have an 12day old (17/nov) baby elephant, it's truely adorable.

I spent a lot of time researching places to ride an elephant and wanted one that treated their elephants kindly. This was definitely an experience of a lifetime. Their driver picked us up at our hotel and took us to their compound about 1 hour away. They have 20 elephants and only take 12 out per day. We booked an... More

My husband and I just returned from Thailand and spent a day at Thai Elephant Home while we were in Chiang Mai. It was absolutely our favorite part of the trip, even after scuba diving in Koh Tao! These gentle creatures are breathtaking and being around them, interacting with them, is simply unforgettable. We lucked out and had a private... More

We spent 4 days working with the elephants and it was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives! The elephants are so well treated and are trained using positive reinforcement (feeding them bananas or sugar cane when they obey a command) rather than by punishment as some of these negative reviews would lead you to believe. The elephants... More

This was probably one of the best days of my life! Such a fantastic experience. This elephant sanctuary is a lot more ethical than others in SE Asia. We did the 2 hour ride. You actually ride right on the neck rather than on big chairs that hurt the elephants. And you don't spend too much time on them -... More

This was an absolute blast! Definitely got to check off a huge bucket list item on a day I will not soon forget. We had so much fun riding these incredible animals around. Certainly worth my entire trip to Thailand!

We decided to do the 2hr elephant trek and the white river rafting...we were not disappointed!! When we arrived they took us straight off to do the rafting and it was great for people that had never done it before! Then on to the elephant trek! A quick lesson on instructions and some key words then off to meet our... More

Humane! That was the most important factor for me . There are 19 elephants, each elephant has its own handler that spends around 12 hours a day with it. You ride the elephant bare back, the elephants handler walks next to you the entire time. We bathed them in mud and washed them in the river. The lunch that was... More
