Pipiriki Cottage - We stayed at this lovely cottage whilst undertaking the Mountain to Sea Cycle Ride and can highly recommend it. We were met at the river landing by Clayton (jet boat driver) who took our bikes and us up the river in extremely poor, wet and miserable conditions. On arrival at the Whanganui River Adventures office the check... More

A great combination. A jet boat ride up the river to be taken to a landing where the canoes are dropped off. Back on board for 5 minutes of adrenaline pumping 36p's for the kids of course and then back to the canoes for an easy paddle back to town. A great interlude as part of Mountains2Sea sea bike ride

Great guide, wonderful scenery and delightful walk to see the bridge. Comments on the river and its people along with historical pictures and explanations made the whole trip one of the highlights of our holiday.

I loved the day on the Whanganui River. Our guide Thomas was born and bred on the river and was very informative, with a cheeky sense of humour. It was nice to see a remote part of NZ, now coming into its own. I especially enjoyed the canoe trip back to Pipiriki, it was very exhilarating and we managed to... More

Just did the jet boat and hike to Bridge to Nowhere. Took about 4 to 4-1/2 hours and did not get wet. I liked the scale of the river--not too touristy. To me, the highlight of the hike is, well, the hike itself and the story, not the bridge (which is attractive but not an architectural wonder). We had an... More

Good, well organised trip but doesn't' quite live up to our other NZ experiences. Very relaxing day on the river with a very tame jet boat ride up river, walk to 'bridge to nowhere' and paddle back downstream. Ken, our guide, was clearly highly knowledgeable about the local area and history but there wasn't quite enough content to make it... More

What a fantastic day! We had a group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 teenagers - and went on the one day trip - speed boat up the river, walk into the bridge, speed boat back part of the way and then canoe the last 10km. Beautiful, remote scenery and steeped in history. Ken was an excellent guide and... More

The trip up to the Bridge to Nowhere was spectacular and the majesty of the river carving through the landscape plus the remote tranquility of the native bush was a special experience. The river was not busy or overrun with tourists which also appealed. A gentle walk to the bridge was followed by lunch, feeding eels from a grateful height... More

Excellent full day adventure. We arrived the evening before and stayed in the bunkhouse. All good and clean. Everything was explained by the friendly and efficient Josephine at the phone booking and when we arrived. Beautiful bush spot to spend the night with Tuis in the flax bushes right outside. We did the 1 dayer trip which involves jet boating... More

We (all 17 of us- my husbands siblings and their families) went up the river in the jet boat with Thomas who was funny, helpful and informative then did the beautiful walk to the bridge to nowhere. Really appreciated Thomas' local knowledge. Then collected our kayaks and canoes and paddled back to pipiriki with an overnight camp at the DOC... More
