Beautiful drive and scenery

Stunning scenery and plenty of aces to picnic. We had our lunch on the side of Grand Ballon. Would really recommend for the views alone.

Good views and lots of curves, It's basically a forrest and a nice drive. Not much else to see if you have driven in other mountains.

WOW! One of the most spectacular drives I have done. The roads are great and the scenery is amazing. There are a few World War I memorials and cemeteries nearby, sometimes slightly off the route but worth a detour. Some great original trenches at Mémorial du Linge and a stunning view from the Gedenkstätte Hartmannswillerkopf above Cenay. We also found... More

This is the most scenic route in the Vosges mountains and it is great to stops in one of the numerous fermes Auberges for a traditional meal . best is to leave the car at a good stance and enjoy a nice walk , views are exceptional .

We drove the Route from Cernay to Col du Bonhomme in one day. Stops at National Cemetery at Vieil-Armand, Auberge Ferme du Freundstein, Grand Ballon, Le Hohneck and La Linge (just off the route). Beautiful drive - especially in a driving machine - sports car or motorcycle. We did not get the panoramic views from the peaks for which we... More

We did not see it at its best , a dull day with mist on the top. The Autumn colours were still amazing & worth a tour.

I visited this stretch while participating in the region's annual trail race (into it's 40th edition this year), covering about 20 miles from Markstein to Lac Blanc, and boy oh boy, what a beautiful route! Suitable for hikers and trail runners, as well as cyclists, although parts of the trail we covered in the race would not be accessible on... More

Curvy roads, great views, good hiking. Basic restaurants but decent food. Lots of bikers and a cool tunnel through the mountainside. Worth a detour.

One of the best areas in Europe for motorcycle touring. See my review of the Hotel Panoramic for a great place to stay. Need something cheaper, see my review of the hotel on Col du Bussang. June is the best month, avoid during the Tour de France.
