Lovely walk as well as pier to depart for a visit around the Bassin or a trip to Cap Ferret

The view changes daily as does the crossing to the Cap Ferret, a place to return to again and again.

It's a jetty that sticks out into the sea from the land. The beach between this and the other jetty is a beautiful sandy affair, if not a tad small. However this jetty and the beach and the promenade are all very nice to walk along and enjoy, especially in the sunshine. There is some interesting architecture in the road... More

come here after a hectic day, after dinner, relax, enjoy one of the freshest and cleanest airs in the world, coming thousands of km straight over the Atlantic ocean into your lungs; observe the subtle light changes, hear the noise of the beach and the city going close to zero and meditate.

From here you can take the (excursion-) boat to 'ile aux oiseaux', 'Le Cap Ferret' and more. You can buy tickets at the small cabines close by. Here you can find restaurants with delicious (sea-)food. Hikers, please follow the wonderfull GR (horizontally red-white marks) that will lead you behind the harbour and fishermens houses, nice nature and the oistersrestaurants in... More

Ideal jumping off point for a tour of the Bassin after lunch. There are a wide selection of routes and operators and the views of the Parc des Huitres and the fishing villages are well worthwhile. Word of warning - if you do not speak fluent French, ask if there is an English translation. Our French is OK but not... More

Enjoyable view of the boat traffic and people boarding and leaving ferries and sight seeing tours. Frequently music and singing performers are there. Benches to sit and enjoy a crème glacé and survey beach side restaurants.

One of the iconic soghts in the city buzzing with life, boats. You can take shuttles to cross the bay, you see the yello whale's tail! Go there by a sunny daynwith a great icecream. That.'s'the best

You can catch a ferry from here to Cap Ferret for €13 return. As jetties go it's a nice one and quite new.

Great place to watch the water traffic go past and look along the beach, but the structure is nothing more than functionary, just set in an amazing location - Arcachon We caught the catamaran ride from here,
