Walk the pier!
May 2019 • Friends
Great views from the end of the pier and you can see the whale tail. Lots of sailboats and beautiful views of the sea.
Lots of walking around this charming city to people watch, eat out, go to the market, and shop. Worth the stop!

Good location to photograph the esplanade & beach
Apr. 2019 • Couples
The thing we like about this jetty is that it provides a good view of the Basin as well as the beach & it's esplanade.

Ugly Concrete and Wood Structure
Mar. 2019 • Solo
Jetée Thiers is a short wooden promenade from the beach in Arcachon. It is the location for the small boat rides around the bay. It is also an ugly concrete eyesore in a beautiful town.

The jetty is in the middle of the beach directly in line with the pleasant Avenue Gambetta. It only stretches about 20m into the sea yet it has a negative affect on the beachscape because of its inelegant design.

In a town filled with beautiful design choices, Thiers is a mistake. It is built on ugly concrete struts that impact the viewing experience along the beach. It really does not have redeeming visual features.

On the plus side it is good to be able to look back at Arcachon from the jetty. There are much better viewing points in the town but at least it is a pleasant enough viewpoint. Unfortunately both east and west are other similar structures jut into the bay.

The view out into the Archaron Bay should be the pinnacle but from the jetty it is just ok. There are too many buoys in the vicinity and the backdrop of the other sides of the bay do not stand out.

Unfortunately Jetée Thiers is just too ugly. It is at least the place to get a boat and the view back to Arcachon is nice but it is such a shame this beautiful town created such an eyesore.

Nice pier, it's where the ferries/tour boats leave from
Mar. 2019 • Couples
If you are going for a tour of the bassin or to the Cap, this is the place where you have to be.

The pier is nice and wide, and at the end there is a lot of space to look at the other side.

Nice walk along the beach too

Quite a laid back small town on the Atlantic Coast of France. There is a quality walkway with many lookout points including this jetty.

Great Walk
Oct. 2018 • Couples
We came to Arcachon on October 3. We based ourselves in Bordeaux and visited Margaux in the morning and Arcachon in the afternoon. We parked at the Gare (Train Station) Parking Lot for 2.90 euros (less than 2 hours. October is considered non peak time and parking actually costs less).

The day we visited it was very quiet and we enjoyed the calmness of this seaside town. We had lunch at L'Oyster (see separate review) and walked around Arcachon for about an hour.

I really liked Arcachon on a quiet day. If you are visiting the Dunes of Pilat, it is definitely worth a quick stop and some Oysters!!

Stunning views
Sep. 2018 • Family

Arcachon has a laid-back atmosphere and plenty of picturesque, tranquil stops, including the Thiers jetty, A pleasant stroll along the pier Great place to watch the water traffic go past and look along the beach Arcachon is such a picturesque town to visit. Beautiful Views, ports and villages around Arcachon Bay.
There are boat trips that will take you to various places vailable from the jetties in the bay.

Visit if in town
Sep. 2018 • Friends
Good views of the bay and beaches from the jetty. No entrance fee. Not worth making a separate trip for but worth checking out for 15 minutes if in town.
