The chapel is not elaborate, however, you do get a feeling of solitude. Masses are said all day for different groups of pilgrims coming to visit the chapel. I visited Saint Bernadette in between pilgrim visits and was able to be one with her saying a few prayers. It's a beautiful feeling and site and should not be missed.

Though located a great distance from Lourdes, St. Gildard Convent is where the incorrupt body of St. Bernadette Soubirous is located. When in Nevers, you won't miss it as there are signs that lead to it. A lot of people get disappointed when they go to Lourdes and find out that St. Bernadette's body is not there. Well, it is... The incorrupt body of St. Bernadette (Soubirous) of Lourdes is on display here. I cannot say anything more. If you are within 100 km, go!

I've been dreaming to visit this little town since many years ago. My mother show me her picture with the body of St Bernadette. Glorious place filled with prayerful serenity. It was a privelege to sit in the same room with St Bernadette's body, encased in a crystal casket. The little museum is a wonderful place to learn about St Bernadette and her visitations from 'Our Lady' in the grotto at Massabielle. The only problem I had with the visit was that a few... More

I have always wanted to see this famous saint and I was not disappointed. Although you are not allowed to take pictures inside. It was a very quiet place, a solemn experience and really made me pray sincerely.

Very humbling to be in such a peaceful and meaningful place for a religious person and for a non religious. The chapel is serene and we arrived at mass time. How fortunate! Special to have mass there.

So special to have Mass with St Bernadette. Beautiful chapel. Enjoyed the museum. You could visit the grounds and shop. May consider staying at the Convent next time.
