No Dirty Thirties Here

What an incredible museum devoted to deco and Thirties design. Appropriately in Boulogne-Billancourt where many of the designers and architects lived and worked. One of those... read more

Very nice visit to a boutique museum...not too big but with 4 floors of lovely art work, paintings, sculptures from the 30s. Everything in French so if you can't read French, make sure you ask for the free guided audio headphones (receptionist forgot to tell us :-( but we CAN read French.) Then ask for directions to Boulanger Paul in... More

What an incredible museum devoted to deco and Thirties design. Appropriately in Boulogne-Billancourt where many of the designers and architects lived and worked. One of those offbeat Paris gems with a wonderfully curated exhibit. Most of the major names covered with stunning examples of art, furniture, glass and sculpture. Even everyday items like radios, and appliances in streamlined design. Nobody... More

Museum is located in Espace Landowski, a bit off-centre of the city. It takes good 40 minutes and 3 metro lines to get there from Montmartre but it is worth this effort. Apart from art objects (paintings and sculptures) it houses beautiful collection of art-deco furniture on the top floor (you feel like in Hercules Poirot's apartment) and monumental sculpture... we love Art Deco, so visiting this museum was a must. Just a short walk from the nearby Metro and you're in this quiet museum, obviously pretty unknown. Just a few Euros and you have a wonderful display of Art Deco furniture and Objets. we loved it

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this museum which is located in a suburb of Paris towards the end of line 9 on the Metro. There are displays on several floors, with large sculptures on the ground and other sculptures, paintings, furniture etc. on the upper floors - along with a display of design objects of the era - typewriters,... We travelled out from central Paris, and found it difficult to locate the museum from the metro. We didn't see any signs, and none of the passers by we asked knew of it, nor did the staff of two boulangeries we went into to enquire. At last we met a helpful man who pointed us in the direction of the... More

We visited this museum as we knew that it had some sculpture by Gilbert Privat. We were blown away by the breadth and depth of the 1930's art and design at the museum. If you have a more than passing interest in the era of Art Deco, this Museum is a "must-see". The staff at the Museum were very friendly... More
