Lucky to have served alongside the US military, important therefore that I paid my respects here. Beautifully maintained, the main chapel building is stunning. There is a guestbook with sanitizer so you can leave a comment in the book too. There is also a leaflet with details about the cemetery too-it is also available online. Make sure you view it from the viewpoint above the cemetery if you can-you can do this if you are also planning to visit The Memorial of the Fighting French. So glad I went. Never forgotten.

This is a serene, quiet corner of Paris that is worth the trip for anyone interested in WWI and WWII history. It is situated on the side of a hill with a beautiful panoramic view of the entire city of Paris. We were the only visitors in the morning and were able to peruse the gravestones and visit the chapel for peaceful contemplation of the sacrifices made by the young men and women of USA so far from home.

I have been coming to Paris for decades and only learned about this U.S. Military cemetery and memorial on my most recent trip in June. Just 5 miles west of the center of Paris and close to Versailles, the cemetery covers 7.5 acres and holds more than 1,500 graves of U.S. fatalities in World Wars I and II. It was moving to enter the cemetery and to see row after row of white grave markers (crosses and stars of David) in the well-tended green grass. The memorial stands at the top of the hillside and features a chapel flanked by a memorial to those lost in World War I and a memorial to those who died in World War II. The names of 974 missing in World War I are listed on bronze tablets in the chapel. It seemed fitting that we finally made it here on the 100th anniversary of World War I and the 70th anniversary of World War II.
Though we visited with a friend who took us by car (plenty of parking), it is possible to come by public transport. One way is to take a train from La Defense to the Suresnes Mont Valerien station (4 minutes). The train runs every 10 minutes. It is a 10-minute walk to the cemetery, where a nearby overlook offers a nice view of Paris.

This is a very well kept cemetery easily accessible via public transportation from Paris. The Visitor Center located on the left side provides all the information you may need and has a clean restroom too. It is a nice place for some reflection about the cost of freedom and provides for an opportunity to pay your respects to the fallen soldiers. As you walk uphill, make a right turn at the 'au pere Lapin' restaurant to reach the cemetery.

I'm amazed at how many people don't know about this beautiful memorial. We come back every time we're in Paris. Easy to reach via public transport or by taxi/Uber. The location is on a hill with gorgeous views of the city and the Eiffel Tower. Make sure to stop by the office, where an American veteran overseas everything. They're happy to answer questions and provide additional information. Both the cemetery and memorial are beautifully kept, providing a fitting tribute to those Americans who lost their lives and are buried onsite. We brought sandwiches (they ask that you don't eat onsite) and after spending time at the memorial, went across the street to a park and enjoyed lunch while looking out over the stunning city views. It's well worth the visit.

Took a day to walk to this cemetery and it was simply an amazing site to see. Very worth the walk. Up on a hill at the top of Suresnes, it over looks most of Paris. Well maintained, very peaceful and gives you food for thought at the site of all those graves.

The American Cemetery in Suresnes belongs to the United States and is a patch of American soil in Feance.
An elegant and understated memorial to doldiers who fell in the two wirld wars, it us located in a leafy suburb west of Paris near the top of the hill called Le Mont Valérien.
The Esplande just in front of the cemetery offers one of the best views of Paris and quite a unique one of all its landmarjs, from the Eiffel Tower to the new and modern Fondation Luis Vuitton.
Easily accesdible by tram from La Défense then a short uphill walk.

This is the only military cemetery outside of the US that has the fallen of both wars buried in it. It has a beautiful loggia with statues specifically commissioned to commemorate both WWI and WWII. Lewis Iselin, a professional artist who also commanded the ship that sunk the last German uboat in the Second World War, sculpted Memoire (Memory) for WWII as well as the wall friezes. This site should be visited by all Americans who come to Paris; we come every VE Day to say thank you! Easy to get here on the tram from either Defense or Porte de Versailles. The views of Paris are gorgeous and the gardens are beautiful but the silent homage to our war dead is the most important!

Wonderfully maintained American cemetery with a view on Paris and la défense business district.
Check out the chappel and the WWI and II plates.
About 1,600 fallen Americans lie here.
We shall always be grateful.

how would i be able to find his grave?
could i do a "rubbing" of his headstone for my relatives back here in America?

As you face the cemetery, there is a white, one story office building to the left. I’m certain if you ask in there, they will be able to direct you to your family member’s grave.
