The church is closed, at least on a Saturday, between 12 and 2.30 but is well worth a visit to admire the massive walls and high roof, and the memorials and decorations. Photographs are allowed and we certainly took many.

The dome and cupula look awesome from the outside, but the building itself is in dire need of repair and renovation. We've been expelled manu militari by the guy in charge at 13.00 for his lunchbreak. Sad on an Easter monday...

It's a nice church to visit. The gem, though, was the dome part that we almost missed. Turn right after going through the door and up the stairs. The frescos on the walls are quite worn but still beautiful.

Neither Mrs Birds-Eye nor I are particularly of a religious persuasion, but this is a spectacular building to visit nonetheless. The crypt is 5 euro a time so a bit steep at the price, but the main church is worth a short wander for its architecture and peculiarities. The story of the statues being wheeled around France in the 1940s... More

Well worth struggling up the hill, it closed at 12 for lunch. We did not go to the crypt but it was open.

Surprisingly, the Basilica is fairly plain once inside. However, it is still interesting for all that. When we visited it was decorated with a nativity scene. The historical information was interesting. A must see location if visiting the old town of Boulogne. Very peaceful and tranquil.

Been a few times and blown away by the church but crypt was something else. Great insight into history and Roman influence. Ticket for museum also better value.

My wife can't walk past a church without going inside. Notre Dame de Boulogne is so good that we always climb the hill to the old town to visit. Lovely calming feeling inside. Good little gift shop and we always try to buy our postcards there.
