Exceeded all expectations!

Musee La Piscine was the reason for our visit to N France. Being an "art deco" fan, I certainly was not disappointed. What a fabulous use of a beautiful swimming pool. The way it had been transformed and the features used in the museum was brilliant and so inventive. The entry price (5.5 euros) was very reasonable and there was... More

What a beautiful building. Definitely worth a visit for the architecture. The exhibits inside included paintings, sculptures, porcelain, dresses etc - a great variety, with, e.g. plates painted by Picasso. Cheap entrance (5€50) was enhanced by 2 for 1 with a Eurostar ticket.

This is one of the best museums in northern France, not because of its collection but because of the architecture of the buidling: an old swimming pool in Art Deco style. There are a few famous artists in the collection (Rodin, Claudel...) but very few known works or only ceramics in the case of Picasso, Chagall and Dufy. However, there... More

Took the tram to Roubaix Eurotéléport and it was a very pleasant trip with views of local houses and neighbourhoods. Then had an hour or so at the Outlet store area to the right of the tram stop before making our way another two stops on the Metro to Gare Jean Lebas where the museum can be found by walking... Visited with sister and a friend who lives in the area. He bought the tickets for us and showed us around. The staff was all very friendly, but not overbearing as we toured the museum. The building was an old poolhouse. The evidence of the shower rooms still stands, but is now filled with art. The pool is still filled,... More

The building is the star. It is an imaginative reworking of an old swimming pool but deserves better art. Include it in your trip to Nuit des Arts or Louvre-Lens, but research your route beforehand. The locals will direct you to the new swimming pool! Good cafe for light refreshments.

Difficult to find parking space in the surrounding streets. Free parking on Sundays in Roubaix, free entrance to the museum on the 1st Sunday of the month. What a building! What a collection! From the finest swimming pool in France to one of the finest art temples in the world. Hard to describe unless you've seen it yourself. Highly recommended.

Visited armed with Eurostar tickets to get 2-for-1 entrance but 1) everyone was free as first Sunday of the month and 2) it would have been worth paying full price. Absolutely beautiful building and really well put together. Everything else has already been said...

We stopped here on our way to Lille. What a gem! The building is beautiful and the use of the space is ingenious. The art is arranged around the swimming pool and the use of the changing cabins is great. The light floods in from the stain glass windows at each end of the tall gallery. The range of fabrics...
