We planned a 5-day holiday with my son. We chose Alp d'huez club med. Since we have been on club med holidays many times before, we know the club med culture very well. First of all, we were disappointed by the reception. The receptionists were staffed by completely inexperienced people who could not solve any problems. They couldn't even provide us with airport transfer on our return.
We received the most help and service from Turkish employees. Many thanks to dear Tuncay, Halil, Salih, Hasan, Berkan and Tanju. Also, Alexsndro, who worked in the ski room, was very interested and helpful.

We went in March 2023 when the season snow was not great. Luckily the resort and slopes are quite high so we could still ski/snowboard. Overall good lifts, multiple ways to get up on the slopes and ski in/out locations. The slopes had a good range for all abilities and had a good park. The resort had a good amount of facilities as well.

Merci pour votre avis ! C'est toujours le cas cette année : un beau travail des dameurs, un superbe domaine skiable pour tous niveaux avec de nombreuses pistes ludiques, de nombreuses infrastructures. Au plaisir de vous revoir dans notre station !

The review is about taking out the lift pass insurance - the insurance is not worth having. Broke my ACL on the slopes sadly in first day. Lift insurance cover was supposed to be comprehensive and cover lessons, hire, ski pass and local medical per terms. The insurers however processed the claim, paid out what they think, no explanations just a settlement way short of a fully supported claim, and disregarding their own terms. I guess they figure most people accept this and walk away....... Be careful - read the terms but don't place full reliance on them...

Hi there. So sad for you and the one star vote for Alpe d'Huez and not the insurance ;-) For sure, you're right, better to read the terms and conditions of any contract. Sometimes, credit card insurance may help you and reimburse more. No risk to try ;-) Hope your knee is going better !

Great summer location with plenty of activities but our stay was seriously haunted by noise from the street during the night time. Music, yelling took place every day from 10PM until 3/4 AM and caused normal sleep to be more or less impossible .

And nobody did anything about it!!!

France has very strict laws about anormal behaviour in the outside and I am writing this review in the hope that the responsible parties will make a serious effort to ensure that conditions improve.

This is a decent ski resort. Having visited numerous others in the Alps, thus has to be the most touristic one by far. Skiing is good and there was a lot if effort to keep everything open despite the lack of decent amount of snow. Food places are offering the same kind if food, which is rather expensive for what it is.

The resort is not bad however certain things let it down. First thing is the lift queues, every main lift on the resort seems to have a long queue all day everyday. Our hotel was next to Marmottes 1 which is a modern style lift however there was always a long queue for this no matter the time of day. The best idea is to head up this lift then head over to the other side of the resort toward the bottom of L'alpette and then back up this lift and Rousses as this gives you the longest run without having to use a lift. It also drops you off at the top of some really good and quiet red runs. The lifts don't match up well and it becomes stop/start the whole time. Our group was mostly advanced with some intermediate ski/snowboarders and while the slopes are fun, they did lack a real challenge (Tunnel aside). The piste ratings seem a little off, the greens are often blue level, blues could be reds. The reds are accurate and I'd say most of the blacks were red or had very small black sections then were red/blue. The piste map makes it look like there is decent separate areas for beginners/advanced but you always seem to end up on a beginner slope no matter where you aim for. This review sounds more negative than intended, it is a fun resort with some good long runs when you get to them but some small elements let it down.

Hi Ross and thanks for your comment. The ski lift company works on the queue problem and our lifts are replaced by more performing lifts years after years. Those who love incredibly long ski runs won’t be disappointed with the 5 itineraries on offer that add up to 10,000 m of vertical drop : la Sarenne (1 830 metres), Huez (1 880 metres), l’Enversin d’Oz (2 205 metres), la Villette (2 035 metres) et Oz-en-Oisans (2 000 metres). The counter displays 17 black runs including legendary itineraries like the 16 km long ‘Sarenne’ and the ‘Tunnel’ run which cuts through the mountain to come to one of the steepest ‘walls’ in French skiing with a 35 degree inclination. A beautiful resort, ideal for my partner and I who have very different skiing abilities (him experienced and confident, me definitely not so much!) Loads of green and blue runs for me, and reds and blacks for him. High altitude means a good chance of decent snow (which we had). Plenty of great eating and drinking places in the pretty village, and do pop in to the stunning church for a look at the beautiful stained glass and striking church organ before crossing the road to our favourite bar The Underground!

The scenery is stunning from all angles and places there are plenty of great runs to explore for both beginners and more advanced snowboarders and skiers. Well worth a viset and such a lovely place

Use ESF to help improve all levels of skiing, very flexible, affordable, not old fashioned but friendly and attentive instructors that will either just guide or instruct.- including off piste!

Skiing is ok and can be great but the resort suffers badly overall as it doesn’t link well across the mountain. Many bottlenecks create huge queues and busy slopes that result in a poor experience. You can find quieter areas but then you limit yourself to a small section of the mountain.
Not enough coffee shops across the mountain and expensive even though it is France.
At the bottom of the main area in Bergers it’s like Skegness on the slopes. Cooked food smells everywhere, 100’s of people everywhere, just not enjoyable.
Other sections of the resort are more picturesque but whatever you do or wherever you stay, you still end up in the Bergers area multiple times, it’s unavoidable due to the layout.
Feels to me like the resort is living on borrowed time and is in desperate need of a refurb and investment to make the area flow better.
In 15 years of skiing across many geographies, this is by far the worst place I’ve been. Wouldn’t recommend nor would I go back.
