Reviewing this for English speakers. The guide answers questions in English but the tour is in French, naturally. I followed a bit but as the main event is playing these fabulous music machines it didn't matter to me. There is a guide card in English. The machines are truly amazing but they have a prohibition on photos and videos so you have to see it live. Think of the fairground machine in Paddington 2 and you will be close. We absolutely loved it.
Look out as they also do concerts once a.month in the church where there is a player organ/carillon which was also terrific.
The second half of the museum is music boxes and automaton, and quite a lot of them work if you press a button so I liked that too.
All told- a great morning out bit make sure you get a guide or the machines won't be playing.

Fantastic interactive museum! Definitely recommend doing the guided tour, you can listen to a range of intriguing mechanical instruments. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area! Great for children and adults alike :-)

I didn't know about this place but saw a sign for a museum of mechanical music and thought - why not. Blimey, what a surprise. It's incredible. A massive collection of instruments from automatons playing accordeons to massive mechanical organs, record players, pianos, juke boxes and all sorts of things you're unlikely to see anywhere else - ever. There's also an exhibition of shop window displays from the early 19th century - Paris style with automatons and incredibly elegant artefacts. Total surprise to find this place, and it's a great way to spend a couple of hours. Definitely take the guided tour so that you get to see some of the instruments in action - quite amazing. I loved Accordeo Boy, a winking, eyebrow-raising, lip quivering life-sized accordion player!

Really enjoyed this museum. Beautifully clean and well maintained and the exhibits are fascinating. It feels like stepping back in time and is a perfect way to spend an hour or a rest from skiing.

This was a really enjoyable afternoon with the family. Very welcoming guide who demonstrated some of the marvellous musical machines including bizarre mechanized violins and mandolins alongside barrel organs, music boxes and player pianos. Some interactive exhibits were a delight for our 3 year old, and we were all dancing a long to the old waltzes and polka at one time or another! Highly recommended, especially the guided tour. The drive up from Tallinges is also a great alpine route.

Thus museum is much bigger than expected and much more interesting.
It is packed full of anything that makes music in a mechanical way, far more than expected.
Tiny models up to huge fair ground organs often in beautiful wooden boxes .
A display of miniatures was good.
Everything is written in French, nothing new in France .,and the guided tour is in French (you are given a card to read in English to follow the tour).
The tour is worth doing as the guide brings some of the machines to life which I found wonderful as they are all approx 100 years old.

This carousel is apparently one of the oldest in France, and it is still operating! Located just opposite the Tourist Bureau. Open between 4 and 7, so, for those who are not really into standard indoor museums, or don't have the time, this open-air merry-go-round, while protected from the elements, offers a real chance to experience the rich history of French village and fairground entertainment. The animals are all hand-carved, and the paintings are circa 1870s from a local (Annecy) artist. Quite magical, and, at the same time, a well-executed preservation that is accessible to all. Only 2 euros to travel back in time.

What a fantastic museum - if you like the idea of mechanical music machines - but sadly, although the website promised a guided tour as long as we were there by 1800, there was in fact no guide, so none of the machines were turned on or played. Boo!
Strongly suggest you make sure there is a guide there before parting with your money, otherwise this museum will be awfully disappointing.

A truly amazing collection of automated music dating back hundreds of years. The ingenuity of these machines is breathtaking and must be really educational to young people who know only electronic solutions. Not only did we once do it with hundreds of moving parts, but how easily were we delighted! What a pity that almost all the displays were dead to us. Explanations only in French, don't touch, don't photograph, nothing moving not even a sound track tinkling in the background. Enough of these machines work to hold concerts, so why not let every visitor see something work? This is a rare collection and could be a world class experience but unfortunately the curatorship is also sadly out of date.
Building B has some push button automated machines but these are really rather sad with very limited movement.
