Really impressive fort with the stories of what happened. It's way bigger then I thought and they have a great audiotour in all languages.

First of all, you'll need three hours to complete the tour! But it's very well laid out, and the audio tour will tell you everything you want to know. And that will be impressive!

We were staying in Brussels at Christmas and popped here with the children (14 and 5) and found it very informative and chilling. We missed quite a bit as not everything was in English but felt it was a brilliant, lesser known concentration camp that...More

We spent a week visiting various museums and memorials during our WW1 Centenary trip but it was Fort Breendonk and its time during WW2 as a concentration camp that will live in our memories forever. The horrors endured by those who were interned ther and...More

Be prepared to spend 3+ hours here. This is a very comprehensive museum and showed me things that, as a non-Belgian, I had never heard of before. They were very open about the roles played by Belgians during the war.

This is one of the visits leaving a most lasting impression. The visitor gets a fair good idea of what happened in this camp during the world war II. With detailed documentation this visit remains in your mind.

Visited as a family with two boys of 10 and 12. Couldn't disagree more with the few reviews which say unsuitable for kids, this sort of experience should be mandatory for all. We should never forget the horrors which humankind have inflicted on each other...More

They said it would take something like 2-3 hours for this - could have easily spent 4 hours though. Had been here years ago before the renovations and found it powerful, glad that they kept the old films with survivors telling their experiences directly. The...More

A highly recommended visit. This camp was the most infamous spot in Belgium and place of unmitigated horror and suffering. The audio tour does not pull its punches and frequently leaves you skocked. Due to its frankness, it may not be best suited to younger...More
