We visited on a Saturday morning. I recommend arriving right before opening (around 0945) to avoid the lines. If you are arriving later in the day, you may want to purchase your tickets online so you can skip the queue. The tickets cost £18.50 per person which provides an annual pass. We were able to purchase our tickets, get on... More

Not a museum in the traditional sense of glass cases and velvet ropes - this is a living experience. Trams, buses, steam trains, shops, a school, a fairground and a colliery village complete with coal mine make Beamish an interesting and engaging place to visit. And best of all, your admission ticket gives you unlimited access for a year.

Lovely day out here even though it was a bit wet. Disabled transport available which is always a plus. Lots of nostalgia, looking forward to the next exhibits but you will need to get your skates on if you want to see everything so arrive early. If you are going at the weekend and want to book a wheelchair do... More

It's about 5 years since we last visited Beamish and new attractions have opened since we last visited. If you take the bus there keep your ticket as you get a discount on the admission price. There is also an accessible bus so anyone in wheelchairs can still use the bus and you can also hire wheelchairs. Staff all in... More

We visited on a quiet day in early June. Thought it good value for money especially the Tea Room in the town, which had great food for reasonable prices. The Fish and Chip shop had a small queue but, still an hours wait which is a bit ridiculous, however so pleased we didn't wait as the portions looked very small.... More

Love visiting beamish! Went quite a lot as a child and have been again a few times in the last year and it's always fun. So much history from the area to soak up and it is very enjoyable. All the staff working there look the part with the costumes they wear and all look like they enjoy their job... More

The staff were brilliant - friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. During your visit be sure to make time to watch the sweets being made in the sweet shop in the town. It's also great to see/hear that the museum is growing.

I went as part of a group - my husband was part of the Gledholt Male Voice Choir singing in the Pit Chapel, so we all had free admission, but only had an hour or so to look around once the singing was done. I love this kind of attraction, and have been here before as a family about 14... More

Took a coach load of year 9 and 10 students here. Booking was easy and staff very accomodating. When we got there we went right through. They had a fabulous time and it was great knowing they were safe there. Only one problem, students complained that the fish and chips weren't very good. TBH, they didn't look the best. Attraction... A really great museum, lots to see & do. A very interesting experience . Highly recommend the wonderful fish & chips at Davy's Fried Fish Shop. Allow lots of time for your trip as there is so much to see.
