Great View - Caution Climbing
Oct. 2019 • Business
This was a great venue to meet up with co-workers from around the world while we were in Germany.

There are two ways to the top. 1 Cable Car. 2 Walk.

Most of the team decided to walk. The path is about 2Km (1.25 miles). Most if not all the way is up hill. There are sections that are steep and gravel.

If you decide to walk, please wear the appropriate shoes.

Once at the top the views are amazing. There is a restaurant at the top with good food and beverages.

If you are in this area stop by. It will be worth your time.

Superb Vistas
Oct. 2018 • Couples
We took the cable car to the top and then set off on foot on one of the paths that lead in differing directions and have walks of varying lengths to enjoy. With the sun shining the views were spectacular and the walk on the paths (albeit a few inclines) was fairly steady going, There are a number of stop-off points for refreshments depending on the route selected, although we chose to use the small cafe just a short walk to the left of the lift, which offered some sandwiches and a cheeseboard with bread and pickles for 5 Euros. The main eatery is just to the right as you alight the lift and offers a greater range of food/drinks. As we had undertaken various trips away from Oberstaufen as well as in the town we did not feel that we warranted purchasing the Oberstaufen card and the cost for the return trip on the cable car was 30 euros, if undertaking more than 1 trip of this kind then the card would be beneficial. Great way to get up into the mountains enjoy some fresh air and free exercise with fantastic views.

Nice day out hiking
Oct. 2018 • Family
This place is a mix, so you take your choice:

* Hiking: There is a variety of possible tours from 30 minutes to 3,5 hours. We chose to go down hill on a detour for about 1 hour with our kids. A very nice hike, passing some nice old farms

* Summer bob coaster: There is a place where you can enjoy this and our kids loved it. We got a ticket for 10 rides for them and they did not want to stop speeding downhill. This is not a very big place, but the owners are very friendly and helpful and everything is in good condition.

* Cable car: You can take the cable lift to get up the hill. It is very modern and you get a beautiful view over the mountains. There is a little restaurant at the top that offers excellent regional dishes. Worth a visit. Careful: Cash only! Try the Apfelstrudel or their Kaiserschmarrn. Delicious.

Best come here holding an "Oberstaufen Card", which gives you a free transport up and down the mountain and in addition you have 1 ride per hour for free on the bob coaster. You can also play minigolf, but we found this little tempting. All in all good for smaller kids.

Great activity

The Oberstaufen card gets you free carriage in the cable car. There is a modest walk at the top compared to much of the rest of the mountain walks in the area.

At the bottom there is a mini bob sled track which is great fun provided you don’t get stuck behind some slow folk who go down with the brakes on....

we went there to have a fun day with our kids and the grand parents - kids aged from 1,5, 4 and nine years at the summer bob coaster

the oldest one could go by herself, the middle one as passenger and the small one had to watch only - use of the coaster is starting from 3 years of age (as passenger),

prices vary from EUR 5,0 per single ride to EUR 3,4 if you buy a block of 10 - for adults. kids pay about 15% less.

the track is quite short, this was quite dissapointing.

also our idea was to use the 'next door' gondola and start the coaster riade from top of the mountain - but this didn't work either as the coaster war starting in the middle of the hill though.
we still went on the gondola-ride - about 10mins - was quite o.k. - but if you only go up to enjoy the view and use the restaurant - well.
nothing much for (small) kids to do up there in summer, the playground is quite small.

yes you could hike, if you want to do so..

over all an o.k. experiance, nothing fancy, nothing you want to do 3 days in a row..

apparently there is another coaster nearby (Alpsee Coaster) - will try this one next time

Fantastic views
Aug. 2017 • Couples
We used our Oberstaufen Plus Card to take a ride in this cable car.

We found the ride up and down absolutely fantastic.

We enjoyed a delicious apple strudel with vanilla sauce (custard) whilst enjoying the fabulous views.

The staff that we encountered both when we joined the cable car and in the restaurant at the top could not have been more helpful. So a big well done to all of them.

The gondola up the hill and then you will find plenty of hiking opportunities. As well as opportunity for eat and drink. Especially good for families with kids - special walking trail with lots of informatian in interactive format (German only).
And - Rodelbahn!! (with free access for Oberstaufen Plus Card!).
