Nice walk, lots of pretty shops, cafés and bars. Look on the ground for the "Walk of fame". There are no stars like in L.A., but the signatures of famous jazz celebrities.

The Gruben, now a pedestrian zone of shops and restaurants, is a nice place to stroll while visiting the Old Town of Burghausen. The Gruben is filled with an eclectic array of shops as well as hosting a flea market on Saturdays which we very much enjoyed. We particularly enjoyed the Glas Punkt with its excellent glassware and the Brennstuberl Geistreich with its large array of aromatic schapps.

Filled with unique stores and great restaurants, don't miss this hidden gem in Burghausen (home to the world's longest castle). My favorite place for some bar food and great cocktails is Knoxoleum (open daily at 6pm). Rumor is the owner spent one million euros on the decor and I believe it! Don't miss a trip to the unique bathrooms.

1225, The grüben (type of trenches, moat) mentioned in a charter as "fovea" (pit), in 1333 mentioned as Grüb. Predominantly houses of craftsmen, usually late Gothic, ever swamped by devastating floods, 1969-1971 a dike was built. Parallel with the Grüben the Messerzeile, mentioned in a 1408 Charter, where Locksmiths and craftsmen lived: nr 2 Bildhauerhaus (House JG Lindt), no. 6... More
