Hermannsdenkmal is a nice place to make a flashback into the late 19th century. A gigantic monument, celebrating the german strenght. You may climb to the top of the pedestal supporting the statue (easy stairs) and take a few interesting pictures from there. The monument...More
See Hermann every day when I open the curtains. Hermann is a must see when in Lippeland, an impressive sight towing over the surrounding woodlands...amazing views on clear days from the view point just beneath the statue.

While based at Detmold in the early 70's we often used Herman to zero in and improve our arial photography so it was nice to revisit this magnificent statue. It is well worth climbing the many stairs up to the crown of the tower as...More

The statue is great for a small stroll around. Parking is euro 2.50. The climbing of the stairs to the top of the brick building cost euro 3 the view is great but you are not able to go inside the statue itself.

Lovely place to spend a few hours. There is an interesting old workshop/house of the creator to visit and it has a miniature copy including the internal structure. You can climb up for a better view of the surrounding country side.
