This review covers a long planned trip to Ingolstadt to visit the Bavarian Army Museum. The collection in the Tilly's Redoubt is probably the single best WWI museum I have ever visited, rivaling what I remember of the Imperial War Museum's collection. Of course it...More

I just visited, or actually wanted to visit this museum, but it was a total fail. I wanted to visit the whole museum, and my friend only the first part, in the castle. We asked the Helga at the tickets, what kind of tickets we...More

The trench warfare exhibit stopped my children compelling them to want to hold hands. It was memorable (and really not scary; however, it surprised them). The museum tells the history well (descriptions are only in German).

Being basically an english speaker make sure you have Google Translator on your smart phone, that is what we did, you will get the full story that way. Only a few of the signs are in english. A very good very clean WW1 museum. Being...More

We didn't go to the main museum but crossed the river to the WW1 museum at Reduit Tilly. Quite simply an excellent hour and a half. True it is all in German but it's very visual and approaches the subject from many different angles: technology,...More

Traveled to Ingolstadt specifically to see this museum. Its displays are definitely dated and only in German. No attempt to provide English, French, etc. Needs a serious overhaul to add languages and technology.

Everybody should see this when come to Ingolstadt. Not bad,but for me quite boring. Not that much interesting. But for german history lover should be great.

This is an excellent military museum. However, German is used throughout though this for the history lover will not be a problem as the visual displays are very easily understood; though a short guide in English would obviously be very welcome. Their Great War exhibition...More

I thought the museum was nice to learn how the military of Bavaria evolved over time. Young children were interested but only for 30 minutes or so.

Mr Woodhouse. I am a military historian, a Subject Expert at Oxford University.... it sounds as if you have a very valuable collection both in the material itself and financially if you were to sell them. Be very careful... More

I travelled by train from Munich.....about 40 minutes to the northern station, then by bus which drops you outside. Hundreds of hotels in Munich to sort any pocket.
