A nice walk up from the village of Wernigerode you will find this nice old castle with a lot of interesting history and atmosphere. The rooms contains a lot of old furniture and interior. The old knights dinner room is impressive!

Full of history and interesting artifacts, and you get a stunning view of the town, can be accessed by the little tourist road train if you are not up to the steep walk up to the castle.

Very interesting visit to the castle, excellent stories about the British stealing the furniture and refusing to send it back after the war.

Took a hike up to the castle in the snow. It's a very gothic looking building but in need of serious structural repair. We couldn't go in the castle as it was closed sadly. The views however are great and it's a nice hike up.

Visited the very well kept castle and enjoyed it very much. The self guided tour is well signed and the entry fee is a bargain. We have visited many castles in Europe and do not recall seeing such extensive and beautiful woodwork as we found...More

As far as I can tell, the next option is in the very center of Wernigerode only.
