This is a small house in a neat village. Particular in Summer it must be a delight to visit. It is exciting to walk on the stairs that Gabriele Munter and Wassily Kandinsky took as well. In the little shop on the ground floor you can see a book with photos from the period when the artists lived there. Definitely worthwhile when you are interested in the Blaue Reiter art. And when you go there, make a detour to the Franz Marc museum in Kochel, 20 minutes from Murnau.

To be in this charming house and garden where Kandinsky and Munter and there friends was eerily wonderful. Many interesting photographs and furniture hand painted by Kandinsky are on display. The rooms look the same as they did 100 years ago.

This house is a gem in a back street in Murnau with a very pretty garden (designed by Munter and Kandinsky). Inside are a lot of paintings by Munter and some furniture and fitting painted by Kandinsky, both being founders of the Blaue Reiter movement.

The house features in so many of Munter and Kandinskys paintings, so it was fascinating to visit and see the house where they have lived and worked. The house is fitted with many of the items that are in the paintings. There is a great collection of paintings in the building (I assume originals). For 3 Euros each well worth a visit. We got the train from Munich on a bayern ticket and walked to the museum through the wonderful old town. Recommended . an easy day trip on the train from Munich

A gem of history and art with many works of Gabriele Munter and Lee Kandinsky and their colleagues. Tastefully done. AN ENTIRE ISSUE OF DER BLAUE REITER DISPLAYED ELECTRONICALLY. Kandinsky painting on a staircase also a gem.

After visiting a recent Munter exhibition in Cologne, I was curious to find out more about this fascinating artist.

The Munter house offers insights into her every day living and relationship with fellow artists.

Definately worth a visit and easily combinable with a morning visit to the Schloss Museum.

Having seen the excellent exhibition in Munich of Muenter’s life and work, we paid a pilgrimage to the house in Murnau. It opens on 22 March so sadly all we could see was the outside of the attractive property. Another time?

We had a special tour in English when the house was closed, with a lovely guide who explained Kandinsky's and Munter's work and lives clearly and interestingly. If going with a group, this is ideal as the house is quite small and it would have been very difficult to go round when it is open to the public. The staff are pleasant and helpful.
