The surroundings of the crane make it arguably the most charming place in Lüneburg. Great for strolling, eating, taking pictures and relaxing - provided the weather is fine. The crane itself is backed up by history and age, so I would definitely recommend.

this old crane is nicely located near the water. there is a weeping willow next to, which gives it a romantic look.

Reminds of the old glorious days. Beware for the cobblestones around. Surrounded by nice historical buildings, a small river dam, restaurants, bars. A lot of tourists stroll around. Very scenic.

Crane and surrounding area with historic buildings, river dam, restaurants and bars is the most iconic, relaxing and beautiful part of the town. Almost I could feel being few hundred years in past. Be prepared to take dozens of pictures all over the place.

The Alter Crane is an historic site on the river. You'll probably pass it walking to or from the station. I'm not sure if you can visit the interior - I was passing about 7pm. In the evening sun you can get some good photographs...More

the old crane is located by the waterside hence it was used i the past to (un-)load boats with goods such as salt, which made Lüneburg one of the richest and most influencal cities in northern germany for a long time

It is one of the most famous spots in Lüneburg. The scenery next to the river is quite nice, altough there is nothing much to do. Worth a visit when you are in the old town.
