Thrilling to see the production of salt and the impact salt had on the development of the economy, in Germany, but also as an example for worldwide evolution. Worth the visit for all ages.

A museum on Salt production is generally not on anyone's bucket list. If you are in the historic town of Luneburg however you should go. Salt made this city rich and famous thousand years ago.this museum helps you to understand this city. It is just out of the central area and shares a building with an Edeka supermarket. You enter... Here is a bit difficult to find. Firstly I thought it supermarket. But small wagon is entrace. This museum shows German historic salt industry, And how salt made. In addition supermarket is good for buy souvenir. It is good idea reform historic building to actual use.

Loved the Hanse exhibition in the containers. I missed the opportunity to engage with some of the stuff I saw in the permanent exhibition though. Apparently some of it is only available for groups. Maybe a guided tour would be a good idea.

I had the opportunity to visit this museum with an English speaking guide and so I found out a lot of interesting things about the region, about the village and about the salt factory. With this visit I realized that this was a very interesting region and I have learned a lot about salt and technical things related with this.

I learned a lot about the importance of salt in ancient and medieval times. Salt made this town very wealthy and very beautiful. The salt business connected this town with Lubeck on the Baltic sea, and salt was shipped to Norway, Denmark and Sweden to preserve their fish. The museum took you thru the history and also the process of... More
