if you are close by it is worth going to Lindau for a few hours. Lindau is a little island just off the mainland, in Lake Constance/Bodensee. The information office is opposite the railway station. You can collect a map of the island from outside the office. But it is easier just to wander the cobbled streets and admire the old buildings. The place is small enough that you won,t get lost. An interesting mixture of shops, high fashion, antique, 2nd hand goods and a couple of charity shops..plus the usual stacks of cafes and restaurants.
Go inside the main church at the Marktplatz..it is a weird mixture of different styles inside..it was so strange that we will always remember the church at Lindau. Wont say anymore so I don,t spoil the surprize.
It was a bit cool so the area was not the crowded. It was a good place to visit especially if you have not viewed many German small towns. An enjoyable few hours.

The exhibition on Paul Klee is arranged and explained in a very accessible manner and shows works from all his different periods of work, starting when he was 16 years until the year he died. Guided tours are offering interesting explanations that are both diverting and interpreting the exposed works for visitors acquainted or less acquainted with Paul Klee.

At present there is a temporary exhibition of paintings by Norle. An artist previously unknown to me - impressionist - influence of van Goch and Munch evident, but clearly having a style, or styles, of his own. Had prints been on sale, I might have bought. Well displayed and organised with audio guide in German and English available. The museum cafe is well worth a visit afterwards.

we had a guided tour of the Miro exhibition by a local expert. The whole thing is not huge - one wing of one floor of the Museum. It is as always well organised and thoughtfully put together but the 25 or so pictures defy a 90 minute guided tour - on some items one is either clear as to meaning, and can move on, or one is simply guessing - which is more likely ... Still, it was raining outside....

We ran in here to escape the rain and what a lovely surprise ,upstairs this very nice man showed us around and told us as much as he could in english. He told us to look out the window onto the lovely square and the tree in the middle is very very old and he said its called a lindee not lindau like the town. When you come out there is a hotel on your right where we got a very nice meal I enjoyed the beef stew, nice and warming on such a wet day.

Worth going upstairs above the art exhibition to see lots of interesting furniture, paintings, old toys, clocks and much more.

Great from the outside and worth going to but inside closed for renovations unfortunately. Potentially amazing based on architecture

We didn't go inside the museum, but sat outside in the courtyard and admired the detailed painting on the building. More Barvarian lions feature here :-) This part of Lindau has a different atmosphere to the harbourside, but is equally appealing.
Enjoy spotting all the lions Lindau has to offer!

Having visited the ""Paul Klee" exhibition this museum came across as a nice, well maintained, thoughtfully arranged small museum.

An interesting building itself. I visited the collection of Paul Klee. The collection was not the best of the artist but it was good. The museum is well organized and the staff polite and helpful.
