Touring on motorbike, and passed through Oberalppass. Stunning mountains, and wonderful fast road down to Andermatt. So near Andermatt that I popped back up after lunch later in the week.

I travelled with my friend from Andermatt to Oberalppass on the metre gauge railway Matterhorn-Gotthardbahn There is nothing much at Oberalppass, but the experience of climbing up the mountain from Andermatt is exhilirating because to the eye, there is nowhere for the train to go...More

The source of the rhine River is from the hill slopes near this pass. There is a lighthouse from the lower Rhine that has been transported to the pass. The pass can be reached by car or train along the mountain railway.

We walked about 15 km round trip via the Pazolastock and then the Tomasee. This is some of the most beautiful scenery I've experienced in Switzerland -- great vistas, still some snow in June, many types of wildflower, and lots of water. And some groundhogs,...More

The main reasons being the pass, the viaduct and a three course lunch. Sadly the sun we all love gave so much glare that for the most interesting parts a decent photograph was impossible, having said that it is well worth making the effort.

Lovely twisties down into Andermatt and great scenery. A good taster for the Furka Grimsel and Susten passes which you can do as a circular route from Andermatt.

Not one of the more extraordinary passes in Switzerland but relatively easy to access. If you have the possibility rather visit the nearby Furkapass and the Nufenenpass for more spectacular scenery.
