Went for the greenhouse and market (did not explore the park)

The new greenhouse is huge, unfortunately might have been timing when we went it was 1/2 empty (as half o the greenhouse was full of sold items). Most of the flowers were annuals, very few perennials. And a small selection of vegetables/herbs. The selection was in great condition but not what we were looking for. Again timing might have been our issue.

The market was pretty empty when we went (it was a Friday and raining though). They have a new craft beer store there on weekends. Tried the pulled pork sandwich at primal eats, they were very accommodating to my dairy allergy. The food was delicious and service was friendly. The produce at the market was limited (too early in the season). Wouldn't come here just for the market but if going to the park or the greenhouse it's worth a visit.

Took the 5 and 7 yr old grandkids there this afternoon, a hot 29/30 C. Grateful for the shady sit down spots provided at almost every site. It seemed our google maps on iPhone wanted to go a different way than the printed map and directions, but we were grateful for both. While we appreciated being able to buy @ $10 each, tickets at a reduced rate (due to Covid), the line up to get the tickets scanned and to be given wrist bands, could have been improved by two at the window on a busy Labour Day w/e. I understand the bracelet but it could have been done way more efficiently. It was our first time (72 yr old grandparents) and we decided to wear our masks. I think we would have both felt safer if more adults had worn masks, but many young people do not fully realize the potential risks they pose to their seniors. Parking was pretty good considering the crowds at 11 am on a busy Saturday. The informative signage was excellent although I ended up taking pictures of much of the educational posters, because one is too busy keeping an eye on one's "charges". Perhaps an alternative would be selling an inexpensive book or pamphlet including all the educational information? My husband would have read every word if it had been on a pamphlet. This is the kind of job a summer student could take on as their project in Education and bring you a bit more revenue or be given free with a family pass.
We packed a terrific picnic and took advantage of the one umbrella table up by the red barns and goats. More covered picnic tables would encourage more families to enjoy a healthy picnic lunch. The grandkids were allowed one food treat, and they both chose the cotton candy. Things have changed with them coming in different animal forms such as dog, duck and pig, but at $6/cone, I was somewhat taken aback or generationally out of touch. We were glad we could exit without going through the food court/gift trinkets building. Well worth the reduced ticket price but would I spend $30 per person + Child rates to go again, not so sure.

This is a great place to spend time with friends. Esp enjoyable for kids. The themed various areas are great to learn and adults and also go on the slides/ tangle nets etc. Keep in mind that the play areas were NOT being cleaned or wiped down while we were there so LOTs of germs to be aware of. The eating area had a lot of vendors that with a decent food selection.

Totally disappointing. We were visiting the Leighton Arts Centre in the area (highly recommend) and decided to stop in for ice cream. Unfortunately this market does not house very many venues and even the dedicated ice cream venue only had a few flavours - so we left.

Would not recommend, nor return.

I had a stall at Granary Road Market From June 1st, 2019 until December 22nd, 2019. At that point, they shut the market down for, what was supposed to be 6 weeks for Christmas and some maintenance. I had signed a lease at the beginning of June for a period of 1 year and was in stall #47 across from Roosters Ice Cream shop. Even though there was a vote from a majority of vendors to remain open in January, they decided to close against our wishes and then tried to charge us full rent while they were stopping us from doing business. This was the first time that they broke our lease. The next time was at the last week in February, as we were getting ready to open, they informed me that they weren’t going to be opening until May and, when they did open, I would not be allowed to have the stall that I had signed a lease on. This was the second time that they breached my lease. Not only did they stop providing the service for which I had signed the lease for, in good faith, but they also weren’t going to give me a stall to do business for the final month of the existing lease. Instead, they asked me to sign a new lease for a different stall. I was told that I would be able to choose the stall that I wanted as I was the only single market vendor that stayed with them.
I went in and selected stall #38 and signed a lease for that stall. Approximately 1 week after I had moved all of my stuff over to the new location, I was informed that they had decided to lease that stall to someone else. This was the third time that they broke our lease and we decided to pack up our stuff and find a new home.
As we were packing up our stuff, I asked to have them issue me a cheque for our security deposit. I was told that the owner wasn’t in and wouldn’t be able to but that it would be sent to the address on file for me. Since then, I have sent several emails asking to have my deposit returned with no response. Finally I got a response on May 19 informing me that they wouldn’t return my deposit as I breached the contract. As I have copies of the leases, it is easy to show that this is blatantly false. I also, of course, have all of the documentation leading up to these events.
This is definitely one of the most unethical companies that I have ever dealt with and I would recommend that anyone thinks very long and hard before they do any kind of business dealings with them.

I have been a visitor and a vendor here. Both were disappointing. Once the Stoney Trail extension is finished, this might become more of a market. As of February of this year, 2019, it was poorly managed and the vendor turnover was extraordinary. It's way out in the country so it's a lovely drive.

The interactive children's park is really amazing. The kids loved it. It would be tough to do the whole park in one day with younger children. It would be a great place for a birthday or a field trip for elementary-level students. The market needs more vendors but I believe it will grow.

Super educational. Fun. Interactive. Will be back. Great for kids of all ages. Older kids had a wicked game of tag going at the Ant hill! Good snacks. Affordable day. Should have more market attendants selling local goods but that would be for me!

This is a duplicate profile for Granary Road. Check their other one as well.
We've been there several times over the past 6 months on our way to Okotoks. The last 2 times there were a lot of empty spaces where shops should be. All in all, not worth the drive. The best things were: Lucs Meats is there but they are at all the other markets too. The Salt Box in the front is great for a coffee and breakfast sandwich and so is the restaurant upstairs. (I heard that they are the owners of the Holy Grill so that explains why it's good.) There were a couple of really nice shops there in Nov, Dec & Feb but they are gone for some reason. Maybe this market just can't keep good sellers. It's too bad because the building is really nice.
Go the Calgary Farmers or Avenida or even Crossroads for more action, better food and prices unless you just want to have a long country drive and check it out for curiosity.

This interactive educational children’s park is amazing! While the prices seemed a bit high, the adventure playground was worth it! Carefully constructed and well maintained, this park allows children to play, explore and learn. The entire route is about 3 km so wear walking shoes! Allow 3-5 hours for the 6-10 year old set to thoroughly explore! Clean washrooms are spaced throughout the park and there are several picnic areas where you can enjoy your family picnic! Our only complaint, the wood shaving around each play structure!
