This glacier on a sunny day is a masterpiece - one of the most beautiful sights you will ever lay eyes on. Twice we have hiked from the trailhead up to the Boval Hut. If you have the ability to do this ( 600 meters...More

Part hike, part educational experience, the Glacier is an easy walk on a wide trail. Along the way are signs in multiple languages (including English) that describe the life of the glacier and glaciers in general. Recommendation: Good for days when the mountain trails are...More

Very informative and easy trek. Relatively flat trail. Venture near the glacier only if you have sturdy shoes and hiking poles. Last train to pontresina is at 730 or so pm so be mindful of time.

We have visited glacier in July on one sunny beautiful day. The gondola is quite pricey but it was worthy. I climbed with my son Piz Troval via ferrata and it was an amazing experience. It's quite easy for any child with some climbing experience...More

It's about an hours easy walk from the Morteratsch train station. There are columns which mark the edge of the glacier since 1900. There is not much of the glacier left. As we were there rocks were falling down the edge as the ice was...More

The walk to the glacier is about 1 mile. Great scenery. There are makers along the way indicating where the glacier was from 1920 thru various other dates. The most impressive is the glacier loss since 2015, 2010, 2005 and 2000. Anyone who doesn't understand...More

Yes, you can walk to the glacier from Pontresina. Either from the Pontresina RR Station or better, Pontresina Post bus stop. I would guess the nice walking path is about 2 km. There is a trunk line station if you want to do... More

I'm not sure what the weather will be like in June - I can only think it will be warm or hot and very lovely. You will be fine with sturdy walking shoes - the paths are very good - its only if you decide to go off the path... More
