    A great view!
I went during “off-season” which is before mid May (17th-20th of April), if it was any other day other than this date range I would have been disappointed, however I managed to jag two straight days of good weather where I hiked around Lake Oeschinen and then the next day took the train to Zermatt to look at the Matterhorn. It was great, no tourists and perfect weather! The only issue was in Kandersteg during off season all the cafes and restaurants are closed (other than the hotel).

    Spectacular Hike!
This was my second time hiking around Lake Oeschinen.....and it was as spectacular as the first time. I did the same loup hike. It says 2 hours, but we took our time and did it in 3.5. Stunning views throughout. Highly recommend. i will be back again next year hopefully. Last year we stayed at the hostel right on the lake. This year they were not taking overnight guests...so we stayed in at the Bernhoff Swiss Hotel. Nice and close to the train station and the gondola. Just go - You will love it!

    My favourite place in Switzerland.
I think out of all the places we visited in our week stay in Switzerland, this has got to be my favourite. We were staying in Kandersteg and were able to walk to the cable car to take us up the mountain and made a stop at the top to have a go on the Rodelbahn (Alpine Rollacoaster) which is located next to the cable car. We walked for 20/25 minutes to the lake enjoying all of the stunning scenery. We walked to the right hand side of the lake to start and I sat just enjoying the views for a while but when we walked back and started along the left hand side the scenery just seemed to get better and better. What a stunning place to spend sometime enjoying just being there. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

I was told that the lake would be frozen in Dec, but it is not true. The lake water is still very much alive. What a great hike and great view, awesome !

Heaven on earth
If you dont like very high heights you can do the slightly longer route from the cable car station instead of the panorama hike with some beautiful views.
Recommend the row boats to experience the lake from a different perspective

Such great views and a lovely walk from the cable station to the lake. If the weather permits, you can also swim in the lake! The price of the cable car is not so expensive when compared to the other tourist hotspots.

One of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. It is a 20/25 mins walk from the cable station . The walk is beautiful. There are 2 restaurants near the lake. Must visit.

Cable car ride from Kandersteg
An easy walk of about an hour to an observation point above the lake, and a descent to the lake (a few more minutes...) and that's it
You can sit, breathe the pleasant air into your lungs, watch the view of the mountains surrounding the lake and enjoy the silence (although there were quite a few hikers around).
If we were organized with swimsuits - there is no doubt that Gan would try to swim a little as we saw others did.

Great place for day trip with small kids.
Bit of fun, a bit more hiking (4 & 6yrs old boys + baby), and swimming in cold lake.

Pure Nature. We just loved it

I took like a million photos before I even got off the gondola. I think I said ‘wow’ about 20 times on my visit there. The views after you get off the gondola to start with are just breath taking.

It is about a 20 minute walk to the lake (signposted) and what a magical place it is. I got there first thing so it was very quiet.

As the morning went on the lighting changed, so got to see the lake change a few shades of blue whilst I was there.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on my side and it started chucking it down so had to turn around on my walk. I imagine on a sunny day it will be absolutely incredible!
