Beautiful Lake
Aug. 2020 • Friends
The view is absolutely beautiful with the turquoise water. I would highly recommend hiring a rowing boat to explore the lake further. There is also a nearby restaurant and a place that sells amazing ice cream! Oh and also beware of the goats! They sometimes chase people away and try steal their belongings 😂

To get to Oeschinen Lake, we took the cable car to get to the mountain from Kandersteg and then around 20 min walk to get to the lake. I believe there is also an electric bus that can take you there faster.

On the way back, we hiked down a downhill road to kandersteg instead of getting a return cable car. It felt dangerous without any equipment but was an experience and overall took us around an hour to get back down.

I personally would visit again to experience this beautiful location and perhaps try the mountain coaster! If you are in Interlaken/Kandersteg for only a few days, I would definitely suggest you visit ! I would also recommend purchasing a cable car return ticket to fully utilise the time in exploring if you are not a hiking person.

We Loved it
Oct. 2020
Check the weather first. The restaurant was very good, and reasonably priced , There is a shuttle bus for those with limited mobility 8chf but money well spent check the weather before you go. In the winter time the lake up there is frozen solid so u can walk on it, We were there just as the leaves were changing it was beautiful. There are plenty of activities for the whole family and if you want to bring your dogs its great Also a fabulous place for a family picnic with great views .

Breathtaking views
Oct. 2020 • Family
Easily accessible for families with small children. The lake can be reached after a 30min walk or in 5min via a small electric bus (8CHF each way). The views are breathtaking and there is a nice restaurant by the lake to enjoy a meal. Not to be missed!

Turquoise water and breath taking views
Sep. 2020 • Couples
Mesmerising and breath taking views of this heavenly place. A must visit place once you're in town of kandersteg. Euro 100 includes A day parking and mountain coaster ride and cable car to the top. If you're tired you can also rent a room in family based hotel.

Enjoy the lake - Beware of the cows!
Aug. 2020
Beautiful lake in the Swiss Alps. Enjoy a refreshing (well, cold) dip in this lake with a beautiful view of the mountains around you. Beware the cows and goats - they are not shy, and I saw a cow chase away some people and then eat their belongings.

Tourist hotspot in spectacular mountain lake setting
Aug. 2020
Unique setting, mountain lake surrounded by steep cliffs and high mountains in the heart of the Alps.
Walking trails a bit rough, steep in places. Starting point for hike to Griesalp via Hohtuerli. Ski area in the Winter. Nice restaurant/hotel. Modern Gondola provides access (25 min walk necessary to arrive at the lake) Walking trail from Kandersteg. Mind-you, it's is a tourist hot-spot, if you look for mountain solitude, don't come.

Simply stunning!
Jul. 2020 • Friends
Our hotel advised us to get up there early which was amazing. Only few people there and we could enjoy the stunning scenery in peace.

A lovely walk along the lake right to the end where there are waterfalls is a must (getting away from the crowd).

Good tip to bring your picnic basket for the day and just lazy around their. Jump in a bit and explore the scenery.

Only little challenge - the social distance is not really respected when you are waiting in the queue for the ski-lift and no-one wearing masks - only after you enter the gondola.

Despite - it’s a must see spot in Switzerland!

Must must visit
Jul. 2020 • Solo
Amazing from start to finish.

If you start in the village below Kandersteg then it’s about 1 1/2 walk depending your fitness.

If you continue up the trial to oberbergli it’s again another 1 1-2 but the view are with every step

Stunning views and a few scrambles
Jul. 2020 • Family
Stunning views. We took the longer walk (number 8) which took about 3.5h with some scrambling on the rocks and a few steep drops along the way. I certainly wouldn’t take young children on this route.
