Recommended for birdwatchers and bird photographers. A great variety of birds visit the garden daily including Hummingbirds and Toucans. Perches are set up so that the birds can be photographed in a natural environment and not just on the feeders. The birds are very close and unafraid of people.

This is a wonderful place and not to be missed if you enjoy bird watching! When we arrived we were greeted by Dave senior who was pointing at a couple of Toucans who were enjoying their mid-morning snack. There are a couple of watching towers which are surrounded by feeding points so there is a constant flow of birds to... More

Dave and Dave have reclaimed a monoculture plantation into a balanced secondary forest. They have setup a number of fruit and hummingbird feeders that attract a wide variety of the local avifauna. The feeders have attractive natural perches arranged so that regardless of the sun angle there is always an area with the right light. The platforms are covered so... More

Birds surrounded the pavilion. Toucans, aracaris, oropendolas, tanagers, hummingbirds, honeycreepers, orioles, woodpeckers, macaws, and other species moved in throughout the day. We were also able to photograph poison dart frogs and even a tayra! Go to other places to see birds - go to Dave and Dave's to photograph birds.

We spent several hours at Dave and Dave's whilst staying at the Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge; it's just 10 minutes away. We arrived early in the morning but its OK to come a little later as birds are at the feeders most of the day. In fact the Toucans didn't arrive until just before noon. There were four or five Collared... More

We accidently came up to this place on a rainy afternoon. Only to check it out. But it was a great stop. Dave has a keen eye on how to run this place. After we did see the numerous birds, our photographers started taking pics. And the next morning we came back to do the same. And a little hike... More

We cannot say enough good things about Dave's. Dave and Dave were so helpful in describing how they has worked to restore the natural habitat and ecosystem. You can bird fro their covered pavilion and see so many different birds but in particular the Tucan come down to the feeders. There are also swarms of humming birds at the feeders.... More

The father and son are dedicated to creating a big bird habitat. There success so far is wonderful. They are knowledgeable and passionate. Mornings is the best time. No matter the weather. Can see birds all day long. Might catch a glimpse of the little frogs also.

Dave and Dave's is one family's multi-decade project to work with nature to replace a monoculture with secondary rain forest. Once a piece of a failed oil palm plantation, now a skillfully re-vegetated rain forest, our afternoon visit was a thrill of close encounters with iconic and poorly known tropical birds. Examples of the iconic were TWO species of toucans;... More
