At the Butterfly Farm you will be escorted by your guide who will lead you through a specially created exhibition area of landscaped gardens. This is the butterflies own lush tropical garden playground! Here you will see hundreds of rare and exotic butterflies fluttering freely around you. The guide will identify different species, point out courtship and mating displays and tell butterfly facts and stories. You can also witness the various stages of the butterfly's life cycle, from butterflies laying their eggs to caterpillars hatching, growing and forming their chrysalis. Ask your guide how to handle the butterflies and caterpillars if you dare! The tour lasts around 15 minutes and you are welcome to stay as long as you like at leisure in the gardens. There is also an extensive selection of butterfly gifts and souvenirs in the shop, or drinks available in the shady cafe. Car parking and rest rooms on site free of charge.

We were very surprised to find how magical it can be to walk in a butterfly farm. They have a great space and beautiful butterflies. They also provide a 30-45 minute tour and point out all sorts of things about their farm.

I went to the Butterfly Farm to fulfill a writing assignment (due when I got back) for a nature writing class. What was there was interesting, but it's a small, family-owned operation. Daughter of the owner is entertaining guide with lots of interesting facts. Be sure to ask her a lot of questions because she is a wealth of colorful... More

Most of the butterflies are imported from the tropical dealers, but they are very beautiful. It was hard to "sort out" which were native to the island--if any. We had a knowledgeable guide that made the tour interesting and special. The ride to the farm from the cruise ship port is very nice--you get a real sense of the island.... More

Like just about everything on St Maarten, hard to find because maps are terrible and very few things are marked. We knew about the Butterfly Farm but we're just exploring when we found it. Although the butterflies are all imported, they were beautiful. We have been to bigger butterfly places in other countries but must say that our guide was... More

The Butterfly Farm was one of our day trip destinations while visiting the beautiful island of St. Maarten. Boy are we glad that we were able to experience all that this small farm had to offer. They had the most beautiful butterflies and moths (and chrysalis displays)! I cannot believe how vivid the colors of the insects were and how... More

The Butterfly Farm is a nice way to take a break from the beach for about an hour or so. Really cool place for both adults and kids alike. Some species are really sociable and will land on you and some won't come anywhere near you. There are so many varieties of butterflies there and they are all beautiful. It... More

This place doesn't look like much and it is very small. But once inside, it's a beautiful display of plants and many, many butterflies. You can see cocoons from many different species as well. I have a camera that has a microscope lens and I got many great pictures of the butterflies that were resting on the leaves. The guides... More

Enjoyed our tour through the butterfly farm. There were multiple species, a cocoon breeding area where you actually got to see hatchings. It was well maintained and an enjoyable experience. A bit pricey for the size, but if you enjoy photography and have a good macro-lens, you can get some great shots.

We decided halfway during our trip to St. Maarten to take a break and to something "touristy." But as it turned out that was an injustice to this amazing site. The Butterfly Farm is a fabulous natural oasis where under a large enclosed tent you can observe the growth of many many butterfly species from birth to flight. Molly (the... More
