I stayed at the Comfandi Hotel at Lago Calima. The hotel was very nice and intamite. It is nice hotel for a couplea get-away. The rooms have outdoor balconies either overlooking the lake or the attractive swimming pool. If you want to swim in the lake then you need to be a member of the Polar Bears because I believe the water is snow melt. The hotel is next to the Comfandi water park so you can also go here for a family outing. My actual visit was in April, 2011. This web site will not let my choose a date before January, 2012.

Was a bit surprised by the German architecture of the homes around the lake, but then, it is Colombia after all. A beautiful peaceful spot, looks like good fishing too.... you can drive all the way around. We didn't stop, but would like to return in the future.

Just the lake is quite nice. The surroundings and the infrastructure is poor. For instance, the places where you can rent stuff for water sports are nothing good, not a nice place to be at.
There is not such a good area for entertainment as cute restaurants or anything like it.
There aren’t nice architecture houses in the surroundings.

The lake itself is a normal but windy lake that has a lot of kite and wind surfing. What we enjoyed the most, was the drive from Cali and then driving around the lake. The countryside was beautiful. The beach is very rocky and there was lots of camping available if you are keen.

Beautiful lake trip. Jet skis and banana boots available to ride on the lake. Awesome views, you can pull off to the side of the road. And quaint places to eat on the ride up and down the mountains.

Along the way from Buga to Buenaventura you will see this beautiful Lago Calima, and worth to visit. It is beautifully located along the highway 40, and you will find many people stopping to take pictures of the lake and the surrounding area.

After growing up near lots of lakes, this one has potential but needs some TLC. It's a big lake, with beautiful views all around, in a cute little town. There isn't much to do there though, unless you plan to camp there. There are wild animals hanging out near the water, cows and horses and such, so lots of poop everywhere. Since they've been in a drought, the tide is really far out. There are a few places on site that will rent you a boat. There is like one restaurant near the water, everything else you must drive to.

If you want to practice a water sport is the right place for windsurf kitesurf and all this kinds of sports because is one of the lakes that have wind 365 days including nice climate and pretty nice people. Also you can get some deliciuos deserts made up of milk and some fresh pineaples.
