The whole family loved the visit to this museum, including our 11 year old son. We learned a lot of local history and enjoyed the beautiful settings to the museum - the tiny village of Škrip.

Best curator ever
Sep. 2020 • Family
We came for family visit as a group of 5 adults and 2 little children. The museum is located in the heart of island in small village called Škrip. And it is the last building in the village. It is very small but with really nice setting. We were the only visitors at the time and the curator of the museum really left an impression. It was I believe 45 minutes of history of the island, together with the fun facts about stone build, about shipping, about maritime battles and on top of it, a lecture about insects that inhabit the island. And best part of it all is that the whole lecture was customized for my 4 year old daughter. She was completely enchanted by the story of the curator. I haven't had experience like this in a while. Total recommendation.

Lovely little museum!....
Oct. 2019
If you ever visit Brac island as part of your visit to Croatia, don't miss out the chance to visit Skrip village and its small but excellent museum. Skrip is the oldest inhabited village on Brac (well over 3,000 years) and is a delight, with lovely old buildings and a fascinating history. Its first recorded inhabitants were the Illyrians, and their ancient walls can still be discerned in Skrip, which is the oldest settlement on Brac. It is also reputed to be the birthplace of Helena, mother of the Emperor Constantine. The museum spans both local archaeology and ethnography, and is maintained by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable curator (?Andrea) who explains everything in a very lively and informative manner - and in very good English too! If only my Croatian were of a comparable standard!... Look out for the two sandstone stelae dedicated to Hercules, the wooden Venetian mast-heads, and the ingenious hand-quorn among other items on display. (Top Tip:The village is also famous for its local production of Prosec and flavoured liquors on sale in the castle - delicious and only 60 kuna a bottle!)

Beautiful historic village

We visited as part of a Brač island tour.

Skrip village is steeped in history as the oldest village on the island and the information about the history is very well presented, interesting and beautiful. A real sense of the beginnings of the island.

Lovely location with a very informative curator
Jun. 2019 • Couples
The museum is located in the very pretty village of Skrip. We found the place by chance and were delighted we did. The curator was a lovely woman who was knowledgeable, clearly proud of her heritage to the island, spoke articulately in English and did so with a great ability to tell stories to both young and old. The museum is relatively small but has a number of items which reflect the Islands history.

For 20Kuna entrance fee for adults this was a lovely place to stop off and spend an hour.

Informative and friendly museum
Aug. 2018 • Couples
The guide here was extremely informative and friendly. Bursting with information, very good English, keen to help. I recommend going here near the start of a visit to Brac to find out about the whole island. The museum is quite small and in need of a little TLC, but some fascinating exhibits. And did I mention, very informative? Skrip also has several good views and buildings - worth a visit.

Your standard Dalmatian island museum

We weren't given an option of a guided tour, but the whole setting seemed nice and informative. You can learn about the history of the island. Apparently, the other reviews mention the enthusiastic curator, but it seems we missed her, since we were only greeted and billed, and that was all. We went there for the storytelling experience, too bad there hadn't been any. The entrance is 20 kunas.

The curator gets the fourth star
Aug. 2018 • Family
A very enthusiastic and well versed curator welcomed us and gave us the history of the place. The main attraction was the piece of Illyrian wall from pre 200BC on which the Romans and those who followed built. It’s amazing that stones shaped and built from that long ago are still standing and something about that draws you in. The village itself is apparently the oldest on the island and that there are roman sarcophagi lining the road is interesting. The striking features in the drive from the ferry are the olive groves and the stone piles. They are everywhere. Apparently these piles are the work of women who spent their lives “slipping” stones to allow the olives to be cultured.
