Went in DDay week in June. Enjoyed visit very much - Staff were very helpful and informative. Bought several excellent books on the subject (very expensive) that I have not seen on any other site. Sadly the Wurzburg was there but fallen off its plinth. Some of the displays are very much after WW2 although I enjoyed them. I think... More

Travelled 40 miles to see the the Wurzburg radar there. Closed and the thing has been dismantled. Nothing in the leaflets I picked up in Normandy said anything about being closed and I wasn't the only one to have travelled to see it. Shame

Looks from the outside a great museum and definitely a one-of-its-kind with all the hardware. When we last came the big radar had fallen off its base which is a pity. Hopefully they will repair it. Unfortunately it seems this museum is open very limited during the summer months only. Even during May (invasion date!!) it was closed.

Very informative and well run museum. A bit "off the beaten track", but well worth a visit. I doubt that there are many other WURZBURG antennae in Europe!

Very impressed with the quality of the displays in the two underground bunkers. Excellent short film to set the context (alternating French/German/English). Lots to see and learn about radar. Excellent technical information, again Fr/Ger/En. Some superb models of the base and various radar systems land, sea, and air. Pleasant visit today. Pity the poor sods who were based there in... Not really that much on-site, but what is there is well presented. There is a very well preserved bunker that you can visit. Its cheap enough to enter and is well worth a visit. I'm glad I took the time to visit the site. Ample parking on-site.

Part of Normandy Landing Museum chain and well worth a visit. The radar site at Douvres-la-Délivrande is now home to a museum, with two of the bunkers housing displays about the evolution and role of radar. The museum also maintains a rare preserved example of the 'Würzburg' radar antenna.

You are not likely to see something like this elsewhere. This is one of the three surviving Würzburgs in the world. Originally about 1600 of these were built and placed along the Atlantic wall and inland as a early warning system for incoming enemy aircrafts. The most impressive about this open air museum is bunker "Anton". For gathering of all... More

Unusual museum based at the Douvres-la-Deliverande German radar site. There are several bunkers - the first being memorable for the filmshow of local people recalling the events of 1944 and the main 3 level bunker memorable for the exhibits within concerning radar from the development to the digital age. Fascinating exhibition and well worth the visit. Might not be so... More

As the final visit of our tour of beaches and drop zones we visited this unusual museum based at the Douvres la Deliverande German radar site. Although the radar dishes were put out of action before D Day the site was well protected with bunkers and troops and did not fall until several days after D. Day. The site was... More
