Drove quite a long way and wished we had not bothered. Feel the sight could have been better organised. Maybe with more helpful staff. For such a historical place I would have expected more from English heritage.

Built by Henry 8th it has served as coastal defence army post and RAF post. It was a Base for a long range very comfortable seaplane. The plane fly but never went it into service. It's more than a gun in placement

The castle is well worth a visit. Lots of information about the castle through the centuries, and beautiful views from the roof. A gem of history preserved very well. Staff were friendly and helpful.
