For somewhere that's free it has a lot too offer in walks and things too see. Considering it's history it has some remains that's you can explore. Walks, varying in distances and difficulty. We didn't do it all today so a lot more to explore for another day.

The story of gunpowder through the 18th & 19th centuries and into the 20th in a small free museum. Follow this with a walk through the country park. Fits in well after lunch at The three Mariners.

We take our two dogs for walks around the site in woods. You can read the notes on the Information Boards about the Buildings and their uses plus the Bird and Butterfly life in the woods and on the lakes whic are very pretty. There is visitor shop ope on weekends some times. Highly Recommeded

We had 3 young children with us and they loved being able to choose which paths to follow. We didn't follow a particular route but it doesn't matter as you will end up at the beginning at some point. You do need to keep a close eye on young children as there is a lot of water around that is... More

Visited the old gunpowder works on the 09/04/2017 for a walk with Erik (a black labrador) I believe that it is run, and all the work in progress is all done by volunteer's. A cup of tea or coffee can be made for you for a small donation (50 pence, or more if you wish to ). There are information... More

A must visit woodland environment full of great vistas. The old Gun Powder Mill site has become overgrown with trees and a whole host of plants, fungi, orchids and insects, great level paths have been treated and steps to the old firing range. Some routes suitable for wheelchairs and prams. There is also an interesting information centre open in season.... More

After lunch at The Three Marines with our dog this is an ideal place to take a walk through woodlands and by the lake. The parking is free which is always a good bonus.
