Golf course Tragedy
Jan. 2020 • Friends
A man in the group ahead of us collapsed into the sand bunker and needed cpr. We rushed to the clubhouse for a defibulator although the had it ready no body knew how to use it. Luckily the paramedics were quick reacting. We did not get to finish our round and Gold Canyon did not do anything to make due for this traumatic event. I called multiple times and they would just forward me to a manager who was not available. This place is a joke.

came for a wedding but enjoyed the veiw and amenities
May 2019 • Friends
excellent amenities for both the golfer and non-golfer. Cute rooms in building groups set along the hill of the mountain. Husband said the course was one of the nicest courses he has played (and he has played many). Beautiful view but very playable. Has putting and driving range. Three dining options that didn't break your wallet. Three areas that made it less than ideal were the pool was way to cold to use, the hot tub heater was not working and no ability to get your car anywhere your room and there are multiple stairs between parking and building. They will send someone with a cart to take you to parking but being impatient I would just walk instead of waiting for transportation. Hopefully they fixed the pool area temperatures

Some glaring issues for safety really hurts this places rating
Oct. 2018
First off: I cannot even understand how they got a building permit with the state of parking. The spaces are too few and way too short. Driving to the upper rooms is not good. Next: once you get to the upper rooms, the hand rails are lacking strength or missing altogether. Older people get seriously hurt or worse in falls on stairs. If I was the building inspector I would shut the upper rooms down.

Ok, we get to the room. 2 queen beds were the tale of two cities: one comfortable and one rock slab. Gotta give credit to the maintenance and front desk because we asked them to clean the 1/4 inch of mold off the AC input filter and they did. All the soap and shampoos were from dispensers. ick. The private outdoor hot tub was not private and I think I got an ear infection from it.

Topping this off with no breakfast tea and overpriced breakfast buffet and we were done with the place.

The people working there were nice but I can see why they have to make a lot of excuses. Fix the basics before you finish your expansion or else you will have an empty resort.

Lunch at the restraunt and attending a wedding
Oct. 2018
The atmosphere both at the restraunt and the resort are amazing. Golf, Spa, and a absolutely beautiful location to have a wedding.

Beautiful Setting and a Lovely Resort
Sep. 2018 • Couples
Going from the cool, sunny, and crisp atmosphere of early Fall in Northern Minnesota to the 100+ degree heat of Arizona takes a leap of faith for someone that likes 65 - 75 degree temps. But when the destination is the setting that is Gold Canyon Resort, it is that much easier. My wife and I were attending the wedding of our grand niece in a nearby destination, so most of the wedding guests and party booked rooms at Gold Canyon Resort. The rooms are Southwestern in their style, with three or four that are in a “podlike” grouping around a small courtyard with other pods of rooms.

The rooms themselves are large; ours had two queen beds, a couch that could’ve doubled as a futon (I think), a large closet, small fridge, nice bathroom vanity, and large bathroom/shower combination. It had a nice flat screen, H/D TV that had access to many channels. Because of the heat, the air conditioner ran quite a bit, but was effective at cooling the room to where it was comfortable. The room also had a small, covered outside deck off one end, that also had a fireplace where you could purchase wood for burning.

My few criticisms: poor mattresses on both beds (we tried both; neither was very good); soap, shampoo, conditioner dispensers (I may be old fashioned, but I like a bar of soap in my hands rather than constantly trying to pump from a dispenser); a shower that had just a slight raise to the floor and an open entrance rather than a shower door (impossible to keep shower spray off the rest of the bathroom tiled floor); no microwave or any sort of eating utensils even though lots of cupboards, shelves, and countertop (it seemed like the room had at one been a timeshare or condo?).

Positives: Fantastic housekeepers, groundskeepers, wait staff; great food in the dining areas; beautiful pool and hot tub plus lovely relaxing areas around both features; ample parking, although a bit of a walk to our room/suite (my guess is that if assistance was needed, the front desk would summon a golf cart to take you where needed); wonderful front desk people with answers to any questions (especially the lovely gal from England that went out of her way to help print airline boarding passes!).

Bottom line: I would stay at the same place again in a heartbeat even though I do not play golf. Thanks for a great 5-day stay!

Gorgeous Setting
Dec. 2017 • Friends
We stayed at this resort to attend a wedding. First, the setting is truly beautiful; it's the best part of the place. The staff was friendly, too. Regardless, we just didn't think the rooms warrant a four star rating. The bathroom was newly remodeled and large, with double sinks. The shower was huge. The patio was nice, too. The bed was fine, and our room also had a sleeper sofa, which would be great for a family. All those things considered, the rooms and facility itself still don't offer the amenities of other four star resorts. The resort is charming, and cozy, but lacking in luxury.

JinxHE, We are disappointed to hear that your positive description of our hotel casita's still led to an experience that ultimately fell short of expectation. Gold Canyon Golf Resort operates as a full-service resort which offers a wide variety of amenities from a full-service spa & salon to 24-hour bellman cart service to and from guest rooms. We are truly sorry that you were unfamiliar with our offered amenities and hope you will choose to stay with us again in the near future.

A must play course
Sep. 2017 • Solo
Continuing my quest to play all of the Phoenix Metro courses.... Heading east on Highway 60 right before sunrise is just a beautiful sight as you leave Mesa behind you and head towards Gold Canyon.   This course is located in a nice small community of Gold Canyon located East of Mesa a few miles.  The course entrance and bag drop was beautiful.

The proshop was well stocked and the dining area was very very nice.  The Sidewinder course was closed for over seeding, so I played Dinosaur today and was not disappointed.   I shared a cart with a local resident that lived on the Sidewinder course.   The cart had ice, club/ball cleaner and tees :).

This course was one of the most beautiful courses in Arizona I have played to date.   The landscaping and grass is near perfect.

The Tees were well marked.

The fairways were awesome

The beverage cart was the best I had ever seen... a john deer

Upon course completion the attendants cleaned up me clubs and had them ready for me at bag drop where I picked them up before driving off.

Super course... a must play.

Bummed
Sep. 2017 • Couples
We stayed here to attend a wedding nearby. This is at best a $75.00/night location. The rooms were old and very out of date. The AC made the room shake and then sounded like poorly tuned jet engine while running. The head board was not attached to the bed. The "resort pool" was about the size of a typical residential pool. Seriously, this place needs a lot of work and nowhere near a $175/night destination.

Outstanding Service
Jun. 2017 • Friends
The guys at the bag drop area were very helpful and kind. The staff in the pro shop were personable and quick. The cart gal wasn't very bright, but she was super energetic and friendly on a triple-digit day. Everyone that we met was five star in my mind. Sometimes just having a good attitude and doing your best can overcome some other things that pop up and this was one of those situations.

LOVE Gold Canyon Golf Resort
Aug. 2016 • Family
My family, my friends and I have all spent many wonderful days enjoying everything the Gold Canyon Golf Resort has to offer! From the golf to the food to the spa to the beautiful rooms with hot tubs on the patios.....the views are breathtaking, nothing else like them in the entire Phoenix area. The wildlife is abundant and there is always another beautiful surprise around every corner. But, like anything in life, the thing that differentiates the Gold Canyon Resort is the people who work tirelessly to ensure all visitor feel welcome and cared for, nurtured and pampered. It is truly a magical place that everyone should visit at least once:-)
