This trail takes you up above Gold Canyon with great views of the Phoenix basin. It is not too steep but is rocky so good sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Easily done in 2 hours round trip.

The trailhead is relatively easy to find even though you will have to drive through Gold Canyon town. It is well marked, the parking lot fills up very quickly despite being quite large, bring lots of water and a snack. Uphill most of the way...More

If you feel like having an interesting hiking, just do it, but try to avoid the heat...in the early morning it's better. Reaching the end you'll be surpriced by the amazing view!

Really loved the views! There were a fair number of people hiking there, but it's an easy and wide trail. Very nice! It's actually petroglyphs, but who's counting?

We went up this morning. Started up real early but by the time we were halfway up, it simply was to hot to continue. We have been up before though and can honestly say, it’s a great experience.

No, you do not need a pass of any kind. There is no fee. The parking lot fills up quickly especially on weekends so get there early. Take plenty of water.
