As long as you go as pedestrian or with a bicycle, this is a nice and not too expensive way to explore the other side - Pte du grave from Royan or vice versa. During the summer months, continuous trips between 7 and 21.

On a hot day, nothing could be better than taking the ferry across the estuary, and then cycling through the forest. The ferry service is excellent, and the short voyage gives excellent views of the bay.
Took the ferry from Le Verdon sur mer to Royan to avoid having to drive around Bordeaux. Very good service just a bit pricey at €33.30 for a car & 2 passengers. Mind you that's cheap to avoid an extra 2 hours on your journey!...More

Hi, you don't need a reservation. The ferry runs regularly several times a day at this time of year. The crossing is quick, though I thought a bit pricey. However, it's much cheaper and quicker than driving via Bordeaux... More
