Taidemuseo Gösta tarjoilee tänä kesän mielenkiintoisen kattauksen italialaista nykytaidetta sekä tietysti rakastettuja suomalaisen taiteen kultakauden klassikkoja Simbergiltä, Schjerfbeckiltä, Gallen-Kallelalta, Edelfeltiltä jne. Nykytaiteen näyttelyssä myös suomalaisia taiteilijoita.
Itsenäni puhutteli eniten italialaisen Federico Solmin oivaltavat videot mm. Garibaldista ja Kolumbuksesta sekä mielenkiitoiset lyhytelokuvat. Klassikkonäyttelyssä myös uusia ripustuksia. Klassikkojen rakennuksen viinikellari on näkemisen arvoinen.

This summer, the Gösta Art Museum serves an interesting setting of Italian contemporary art as well as the beloved classics of the golden age of Finnish art. The exhibition of contemporary art also includes Finnish artists. I myself liked the most the insightful videos of the Italian Federico Solmi as well as interesting short films. The wine cellar in the classic building is worth a visit. The Italian The Quest for Happiness exhibition itself is a good reason to go to Mänttä.
The museum's location by the lake, as well as its beautiful milieu and stunningly good food in the Gösta restaurant make a great addition to the art experience. Remember to visit also the art museum Gustaf.
The museum is open all year round and during the summer from 1 June to 31 August. every day from 10 am to 6 pm. Joint ticket for adults to both museums € 10. Discounts for seniors and students as well as free admission e.g. under 18 years of age.
All in all, I warmly recommend at least a day's summer trip to Mänttä and you get the most out when you stay in Mänttä for the night and visit Gösta and Gustaf on different days.

Hei! Kiitos paljon monipuolisesta ja mainiosta palautteesta! Mukava kuulla, että Onnea etsimässä – Italian nykytaidetta -näyttelystä on löytynyt kiinnostavia teoksia. Näkemistä Göstassa ja Gustafissa tosiaan riittää, joten yöksi jääminen on oivallinen vinkki, mikäli näyttelyihin haluaa syventyä rauhassa. Lämpimästi tervetuloa uudelleen! Terveisin, Suvi Rauhala

Another one ticked off my bucket list! Banksy! I never thought he would be shown in Finland... But I was wrong, fortunately. Be there or be square!

One of the most interesting museum buildings in Finland. Great combination of old and new architecture. Enjoyable surroundings with well maintained garden and delightful piece of 'wilderness'.

Good exhibitions.

Superb service, I especially liked easy connection from Tampere with Serlachius-buss, which is convenient for visitors travelling without car.

Interesting exhibitions, excellent restaurant Gösta and wonderful mansion park by the lake. Would probably be best to stay overnight and e.g. rent a bike to explore the surroundings also :)

I must admit that I didn't understand the exhibition this year. That happens but the place is great and the art there is not easy.

It was worth to travel to Mänttä-Vilppula to see the exhibition of Anselm Kiefer. Gösta's halls are good for big paintings and art pieces.
In the old mansion has several other exhibitions, so at the same time there is a change to see some works of old Finnish painters.

After paying your entry fee to Gösta you can also get it to another museum, Gustaf, which is in the middle of the city center of Mänttä, just next to the church.

Mänttä is an old paper town and its owner family was a friend of the arts. They put up their collection for show after the war and have recently added a new building adjacent ot the great manor of the family (who lived there only 10 years). The building is in itself an interesting monument to new Finnish wood architecture (the manor itself is a 1930-s Germanic large family house with some interesting interior details) and very good for large works of art. We visited the Kiefer exhibition which was quite impressive in the surroundings: one feel that they should stay there permanently! You should also take a walk in the surrounding park which is quite pleasant. A very good day's excursion from Helsinki!

Recommended for people who appreciate the mix of late 19th/early 20th century Nordic art & modern wooden architecture in a country-side surrounding. A destination to be combined with a brief visit to the city centre of Mänttä (2km away) with ANOTHER Serlachius museum (called "Gustaf", introducing paper mill history) and the small city church built by the Serlachius paper mill workers in the 1920s. All in all makes easily one day's full of program with the return car trip from Tampere.
The main destination is the Gösta Museum with some pieces from its extensive permanent collection always displayed. The new museum building exhibits contemporary art, temporary shows, quality varies.
Trendy restaurant, cosy café, nicely kept museum shop, plenty of guides and friendly assistance. A peaceful country-side stroll with benefits !
