Take a step back in time at the Gwili Steam Railway, a delightful preserved railway just outside Carmarthen in West Wales. Running steam train services every day of local school holidays and selected days throughout the remainder of the year, this is the perfect trip for all ages to enjoy. Experience a typical country branch line from the 1950s with a stop off at Llwyfan Cerrig Station in a beautiful spot alongside the River Gwili.

What fun. Very well organised and the staff were friendly and helpful. The trip was just long enough for a toddler and Santa was very believable.

Took my grandchildren to see Santa. The staff went out of their way to ensure everyone enjoyed plenty of entertainment sherry and mincepie for every adult and goodybag for each child. The train ride was a good experience we all enjoyed pity about the rain but some things can't be fixed ha! Would recommend a visit anytime

Very helpful staff and a charming railway. Kids will love the setting and the trains which run down the valley where there are a number of older trains in the yard and a small model railway for the kids. The staff are very nice and let the kids get into the footplate and look into the control rooms. Well worth... More

We went here with all the family and all enjoyed. The old steam train was great. Parking was a problem but there was parking close by with a free shuttle bus. When you get to the end there was a huge tent with a bouncy castle, cafe, face painting, and of course santa. The tent could do with being a... More

A few miles of Carmarthenshire Branch Line with an lovely river and scenery, where the Panier engined train goes back and forth whilst the voleneers serve up first class food with a sence of humour, a lovely day our which is recommended for the whole family. We had a Sunday Lunch experience as a gift from the kids at Christmas....... More

We had such a lovely time at the Gwili Railway. It was our first time on the Santa Special and we all thoroughly enjoyed! Thought it was a nice touch to give the grown ups a mince pie and sherry! The children had lovely goodie bags and fab presents from Santa which popped magically down the chimney. The marquee was... More

Exciting 'must do' activity with children at Christmas. Lots of excitment boarding the train for the short journey to Santa's grotto. Plenty of distractions meant that the kids didn't get bored waiting to see Santa. Nice atmosphere and hospitality. Lovely way to spend the day for grandparents and grandchildren alike!

A little over crowded to how it used to be. And the parking wasn't very well organised. On the plus side, the kids liked the grotto.
