The castle is worth a visit: It's a big castle and you can find out a lot about its past. There are several nice spots around the castle that are good for a picnic. A very small car park is directly in front of the entrance.

Had a brilliant visit to Kidwelly castle, it has just the right amount of ruined bits and largely in-tact bits so there are rooms, stairs, bits of wall to walk and towers with views. Limited number of signs explaining the history but enough to supply context to the stones. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Its a lovely castle kept nice and clean its a nice big area. You can take a picnic or there are a couple of cafe's and a spar shop not to far away, the castle shop is a great shop they also sell local (caldey island) chocolate. We were there for just over an hour, but it depends how long... More

This castle turned-out to be a little gem. Larger than I first expected you could wander almost everywhere unrestricted (only one area was closed for repair). It was great to actually go into the dungeon which are usually closed-off at the doors of other historical buildings. Dogs are allowed at ground floor level only so we had to take turns... More

Since retiring we have been targeting castles on our travels. This has to be one of the best to date. Yes a ruin but with so much intact you can really get a feel for how it might have been in its heyday. Run by Cadw it is free to members, and the annual fee is very reasonable. The staff... More

Lots of the castle remains in tact and open to visitors to view. Well worth visiting and exploring all the open areas.

My husband and I visited the castle a few months ago with our 2 dogs. The lady on reception was very helpful and informative with providing extra info. We had a lovely few hours walking around the castle and just taking in its beauty and how peaceful it was there. Good news is they do Apple Pay, so if you... More

If you enjoy history this castle is a must to visit. The castle is in amazing condition for 900 years old. So much history. It is absolutely fantastic. We loved our trip there. You can get a great feel as to what it was like originally.
