The village is a very nice one, friendly people, little shop, nice chip shop. Not a melancholy place at all but the Castle itself, well its ruinous state is a relic of the terrible 1641 rebellion, during which the most appalling sectarian massacres of all Irish history took place. It was built as a semi-fortified house, but with features that... More

Very keen to catch up on this very historical castle so visited today. What a quality castle ruin............it must have several dates of architectural finish..............just no information of any interest on site...........why? Very disappointed. Surprised that the local council do not see this as a star tourist attracftion.

Nice to wander around with the remains of an old plantation castle. The town is especially nice in summer when they enter the Ulster in Bloom competition and you could see a car engine bay filled with flowers! Parkanour Forest Park is quite close and is worth having a walk around or a picnic with a Tudor revival country house... More

Davisons bar is a lovely family run pub. There is a lovely welcome the minute you walk through the door. There is also a lovely little family food store and a chippy which comes in handy after a few drinks. Best thing is the pub lets you take your food in to eat while you are having a drink. Definitely... More

Little to see or do here. Couldn't find the castle. Signposted down a road but no castle in sight. Must only be a rock left! Little village for passing through - shop and chip-shop. Little else.

Hey I live in Castlecaulfield and it is lovely...it's very quiet and has one main street with two churches, a pub, a shop and a post office. It also has a park and the Castle as mentioned above is just beside this. I am getting my wedding photos taken at the castle next weekend so I'll post them up. Also... More

The Village of Castle Caulfield in Tyrone, Ireland is a wonderful town to visit. The ruins of the castle, built by Sir Toby Caulfield in the 12th Century are in the middle of the Village - as if to rise up out of the middle of nowhere. The main streets has a few shops and two great churches.
