We took a taxi from our hotel to visit this historic site. Initially I was underwhelmed due to how small the castle appeared upon arrival. We actually spent a good half hour to an hour touring and learning the history. The views from the top of the keep were fantastic.

Great tour by Jackie. She was funny and informative and kept everyone engaged. We brought German and English friends who loved it too. Would recommend a visit anytime.

This Castle is very well refurbished and well organized for visitors. Day trips available from Belfast City also, but we arrived from north via Antrim Coast Route and stopped for couple of hours. You just buy tickets (5£) and can wander around outside & inside. Ancient History from 1200 are easy to read & understand. Amazing that so many countries... More

Brilliant place to visit for all the family. Children there today all appeared to be having great fun and I am sure all others would as well. Well maintained and easy access to most parts - many stairs as one would expect but that should not deter most people finding access to the majority of the castle. Would certainly recommend... More

We were travelling north to visit the Giant’s Causeway and came across this lovely old castle dating back to 1177. Had fun exploring all the different Wards and reading the history. Especially enjoyed climbing the Keep with the different levels and its massive banquet hall. The thickness of the walls was amazing and windows offered some great views of the... More

Loved making a quick stop here on our way up the coast. We didn't go inside but the grounds are beautiful.

It was a lovely day to go to carrickfergus and see the castle, I took a 3 year old and a 15 month old. It was £5 for me and children 4 and up are £3 which is an acceptable rate in my opinion. I'm sure the castle upkeep is not cheap! There was a kid friendly welcome center with... More

The detail and information about the castle and its history were excellent. We could make our way around and fully understand what had happened in the past

This was actually the very 1st castle we entered and toured. But it was the 3rd castle on our journey. This was my "Birthday Castle". We traveled here the day of my b-day. The castle it beautifully kept, clean and in great condition. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Children were there with their parents, running and laughing and... More
