Overview
More
Coughton Court has been home to the Throckmorton family for 600 years, this finest of Tudor houses stands testament to a family's courage in maintaining their beliefs. From a position of high favour to one of fear and oppression post-Reformation, the Throckmortons were leaders in a dangerous age, helping to bring about Catholic emancipation in the 19th century. Explore this story of fascinating personalities through the 'family album' of portraits and Catholic treasures around the house. Coughton is still very much a family home with an intimate feel: the Throckmorton family live here, managing the stunning gardens which they have created.

The property has a strong historical link with the gunpowder plot.It has a beautiful interior with a reasonable amount of rooms to view. The gardens are also pleasent with a riverside walk and more formal gardens.A restaurant and gift shop are the usual NT set up.

On entrance Coughton Court is beautiful however is very disappointing once in the house. The volunteers are very imposing and instead of giving us information regarding the house, decided to quiz us on our history knowledge! Not what you expect from a National Trust building....More

Great place to learn lots about the Gunpowder Plot because of the connections this house has with it. On a clear day wonderful views from the roof but spiral stone staircase may present difficulties for the infirm. Timed visits to the house on popular days...More

From the M50 onto the M5 south to junction 9 and then the A46 north to Alcester. Straight forward.
