Challenging course… no electric buggies allowed unless medical certificate…
Signage better ( many were missing)needed for where to find the next tee ( we went wrong way until we asked a local golfer)as no card offered with course details …. It was difficult as many fairways are very near each other.

Played Riverside course recently - in good overall condition. But management really need to rethink their attitude to those players who need to use a buggy. I am unable to walk 18 holes due to a chronic medical condition (supported by an up to date consultant's letter). Last year I purchased my own single seater golf buggy so that I could play as often as am able to without it costing me a small fortune and paying more for a round than my playing partners. Unfortunately PGC insisted that I hire one of theirs at a cost of £40. Even after informing them that I had insurance to use the buggy, their stance did not change. Reason - club policy. In this day and age this is unacceptable and blatant discrimination in that it cost me an extra £40 simply because of my condition. Come on PGC - bring your policies up to date and in line with the vast, vast majority of other golf clubs who truly want to make golf a sport for all without discriminating against those with medical conditions.

Really enjoyed it. Even the short par 4s were good holes.
Punishing rough but wide fairways. £30 for a junior a bit steep.
Could do with a bit of TLC in places.

I had the privilege to play this course and in one word - fantastic. The first hole has to be one of the best opening holes in golf and the front nine is very special. The back nine struggles to live up to the views of the front but it is still wonderful. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. If you are in the area for golf than make sure Portstewart GC is on your list

First four holes are spectacular, even the par 3. Very friendly starter, Ricky who told us all we needed to know. It’s one of those courses that is worth playing at least once though very expensive. Other staff we met were very helpful too and friendly. Members seemed a bit reserved though they probably have their fill of visitors to what is an outstanding course.

This course is not as well known as Portrush, but is every bit as much fun.
It has a range to warmup with, with a short game area. The grounds in that area are pretty rough, beat up as it were.
The first tee gives you a very impressive view. A dogleg right, a good test. The second hole is a treat.
All the daddies are members of the club, all very friendly and helpful.
The pro shop has a good selection but is high priced

The front nine of Portstewart is considered to be one of the best front 9 in golf. But that suggest the back 9 are not special. That's unfortunate because the course was fantastic and the staff at Portrush were exceptionally welcoming to the eight of us. Never did we feel that we were unwelcome. Just a great experience.

Just looking down the first fairway we saw that this was going to be a spectacular course with large dunes rising up all around and this was the case for the first nine holes , but thereafter the course opened out and was good but nothing more. It rained pretty solid for the first 7 holes which unfortunately limited our enjoyment but that is all part of playing golf in Ireland in August. Definitely take caddies if you want to enjoy and appreciate the course , however hopefully you will have better luck than we had as our caddy was very average - we were in a golf buggy - and he obviously was more interested in chatting to the other players in our four ball and their caddies than in looking for our errant shots. This was somewhat disappointing as all the caddies are members of Portstewart Golf Club. Of all the courses we have played to date on our golfing trip this one is the least likely that we would want to visit and play again.!!

Depends on the time of year. Check their website. They have the Irish Open next summer so they might be higher than normal. Worth every penny!!!
