Sorry, but I'm not a fan of the NT but that's another story. I visited with friends and we had a great couple of hours wandering around the lakes, gardens and house (the house 'story' btw, is a bit naff). The gardens were at their best, and the upkeep is magnificent. But I was really impressed by the ice cream... More

Stopped in with the family (including my two boys aged 3 and 6) in August 2016 on the way to our summer holiday in Cornwall. Didn't explore the House on this occasion (but have done before - its grand) this stop was refuelling and spending some time in the gardens with the little ones. It was a great stop, we... More

Stourhead is a perfect stop for anyone travelling along the A303. The gardens are beautiful ,circling a lovely lake with numerous unusual follies/grottos. The house is interesting with keen expert volunteers. And of course there's a NT café.

Stour head is a great place to visit lovely walks, fabulous scenery, gardens and house. Restaurant is ok, we had to try about 8 knives until we found a clean one, quite expensive. Get there early in the morning then you can beat the rush and walk round in peace. If you are NT members free, but family prices is... More

Beautiful peaceful gardens. We missed the house because the last entry is at 4:30 pm, so would recommend visiting the house first and then the gardens. Beautiful day out with the family.

Amazing place, well organised, free for National Trust members. Parking close to entrance. Minibus service for those less able to walk the steep climbs from different parts of the parks. Go with very comfortable shoes and light bags, the climbs down/up from the gorgeous lake can be difficult for the less fit. Lots of picnic areas, beautiful setting. The house... More

This property is National Trust and there is so much to see it will take hours. There is the Jane Austen type house, the Stables, kitchen garden and then the gardens. When you step into them your breath is taken away by the view although I did have a sunny day for it. The house and gardens have plenty for... More
