Dog walk along the canal and perfect place to stop for coffee and Home made cake at the end of the walk. Plenty of car parking and friendly staff in coffee shop.

the canal has been such a wonderful restoration project and when the whole of the canal is finished from chesterfield to the river Trent it will be a wonderful walk . If only some of the cyclists would slow down when approaching walkers fishermen ect it would be perfect

An easy route to cycle, well signposted and with parking and a good cafe at the hub. Scenic views in good weather and some interesting industrial buildings along the way plus Barrowhill Train museum - a must for train aficionados, close by. Usual wildlife present and if you're lucky you might spot the reclusive water vole.

The chesterfield canal is full of interest and constitutes easy walking. Volunteers have done amazing work on the canal to rejuvenate it to very high standards, although this is still work in progress. There are two very good cafes that we know of - at Tapton Lock and at the Hub at Staveley. Wild life abounds, despite there being many... More
