unfortunately as the hall is no longer stable, it is not possible to enter the ruin, such a shame, but such a nice place to stroll around, wonderful views as well,

Admittedly we returned here to find it surrounded by a fence now, but on our first visit we was able to wander around inside the walls, shame to see yet another grand building slowly disappear. Good views from hill top.

Basically in need of major restoration by English Heritage. It is not worth a special visit but if you have been visiting Bolsover Castle and you can spare a half hour, then a ten minute drive and a 10 minute visit wil show you how...More

A classic example of what happens to wonderful buildings without the protection listing now gives them. This once splendid house is a shell only, having been stripped of its period features (fireplaces, panelling etc) for sale abroad, mainly America, then its roof removed to escape...More

Surrounded by wire fencing, it's no longer possible to enter into the house itself. It's a good job as it's reputedly unsafe, but you can look through the fencing and see that there's not really anything worth looking at anyway - shame.

Free Parking, Free Entry, Beautiful, Interesting, Historical. Sutton Scarsdale Hall is a sad, but beautiful sight indeed. It evokes quite an eery feel. Due to this, it brings such intrigue to its history and former grandeur. The building is owned by English Heritage and they...More

I wouldn’t get overly excited about Sutton Scarsdale Hall. Unfortunately it’s now mainly a relic, just the skeleton of the former grand place this was. You can stop for a look around and there are good views but there’s not much else to see here.

Called here on the way back from Sunday lunch at a local pub. A few interested people there even though it was the weekend. I suspect the interior is a dangerous zone due to restrictive fence. Must have been a very grand home when first...More
