Free Parking, Free Entry, Beautiful, Interesting, Historical. Sutton Scarsdale Hall is a sad, but beautiful sight indeed. It evokes quite an eery feel. Due to this, it brings such intrigue to its history and former grandeur. The building is owned by English Heritage and they...More

I wouldn’t get overly excited about Sutton Scarsdale Hall. Unfortunately it’s now mainly a relic, just the skeleton of the former grand place this was. You can stop for a look around and there are good views but there’s not much else to see here.

I was dissapointed to find this building fenced off. When visiting in the past it has been possible to walk through the building seeing the layout of the rooms and floors. No notice was posted so it was a wasted trip.

Small country lane but well worth the effort. Although not habitable there is a sense of grandeur to this building. Looks like restoration has started even if it is on a small scale.

I can imagine in its heyday it was totally stunning. Now a ruin but if you like taking photographs of great architecture then you've hit the jackpot here. Alas, that is the only good point. No visitor centre. No refreshments ie cafe or similar All...More
