we took our four year old grandson to ride on the train and see santa this christmas. Had a lovely time like we did the year before. But was stunned by the inappropriate gift our four year old Grandson received, which was a plastic machine gun , hand gun and a grenade, to which our Grandson replied" only bad men... More

A lovely family trip out on a steam train. The Christmas atmosphere was great from first entering the platform with decorations and music. We enjoyed a lovely warm drink and breakfast rolls in the friendly station cafe whilst waiting to board the train. The train itself was decorated for Christmas and we were welcomed with a drink and mince pie... More

We visited Peak Rail as part of a tour group on Christmas Eve. The station, train and staff were in festive guise and there was a warm and friendly atmosphere. On the short return journey we were entertained by musicians, clowns and magicians and received a mince pie and mulled wine. Of course Santa Claus was in attendance, conducting the... More

Great morning on Santa's steam train with the grandchildren and children, we all enjoyed it! Mulled wine and mince pies for adults juice and sweets for the kids and a present for them given by Santa's elves. Lots of entertainment by a wizard, clown, musicians and visited by Santa too. Fantastic experience on a real steam train, starts Christmas off... More

A great Christmas treat, we saw Santa, a random Percy Pig, lots of clowns and magicians. The train trip was fun, a nice old steam engine which went to one station and back again Maybe it was more fun for the dads, who knows but it's a decent family trip out especially if you have young children. Not great baby... More

As others have said, lovely staff, lovely train, nice atmosphere, 3 stars as I personally found the meal a little lacking in flavour, credit due if the meal is all cooked aboard the train?

On Sunday, 4th. December, I organised a group lunch on board The Palatine dining train. On arrival at Rowsley the train was already in the platform and we were welcomed on board and shown to our reserved seats. The front part of the train was for diners, whilst the rear coaches formed Santa's train. Our seats were in the beautifully... More

Six friends had a Christmas Meal on this line. We all enjoyed the experience, the meal was lovely and the staff were great especially the young girls who laughed along with our group and helped to make the experience enjoyable. Best wishes to you all.

The train had two big diesels ,one at each end as it went down the valley to Matlock. There , not only does the train connect with the national railway and local bus services but there is a bookshop on the station to while away the time
