I visited Newby hall many years ago and always planned to return sometime. I had not planned for the changes that had been made, and I must say they were all for the good. the house remains stunning in every respect, décor, furniture, paintings. The guides are excellent and made the visit very enjoyable. The gardens are beautiful and the... More

Went on surprise trip organised by the Misses and the rest of family - Had picnic, walk, ride and play ! Granted the weather made it better but what a gem ! It ticket ALL the boxes ! The play area was bloody awesome ! The miniature railway showed us bits we'd not seen so could explore them and everything... More

We visited here on a sunny spring day. There is a good car park and beside it a fabulous area for your picnic with benches to sit on ,clean toilets, and bins for rubbish. The first thing you will encounter is the chance to visit a lovely plant centre. Anyone interested in gardening should take the time to look around... More

This is a great house in huge, magnificent gardens. The house has been well preserved with many original Georgian features and furnishings and an enviable collection of artwork. For me, the gardens are the main attraction with much to delight every gardener. We walked around and every garden, every border was planted with care and attention to detail, and barely... More

We were at the super car event but wandered over to garden centre then gardens themselves. Wow! The rhododendrons are in bloom and stunning and bluebells coming out too. Tall hedges immaculately trimmed and endless flowerbeds with no weeds plus manecured lawns. Very popular miniature railway popular with children & grandparents. We discovered the Bear House with fabulous cute displays... More

We went on the house tour which was brilliant. The tour guides are enthusiastic and know their stuff. Plenty to do to make a day out and worth a visit but is expensive. To be really picky, some of the gardens/ wider offer feels scruffy and a little unloved.

We visited Newby hall on a whim, and we weren't disappointed. Despite the last minute decision we were able to put a picnic together, and we were able to enjoy this before we went into the gardens. There was loads of stuff to do for our son (who is two) such as the train, water fountains and swings. He loved... More

We visited newby hall after many recommendations with our 2 year old son. Beautiful, scenic and relaxing however the cafe is very expensive even for Just a hot drink to take out. All round lovely place but would recommend taking a picnic
